a running community | Nike and Joy Run Collective break down barriers in Berlin
There is power in community — in coming together as one to celebrate, to collaborate, and to create something meaningful together. Joy Run Collective is doing all of those things and more by bringing together underrepresented communities through running. The group was founded by Huyen (she/her) who, after noting how running and self-confidence are tied together, wanted to create a space where BIPOC* and queer individuals could feel safe and inspired to begin running. Thus, Berlin’s very own Joy Run Collective was born. As a company that has always shined a light on athletes who are helping create new impacts on sport, Nike noticed just how much Joy Run Collective was empowering those to feel comfortable in their running journey. Nowadays, they work closely together to make running and the sports world a safe space full of compassion, inclusion, respect and — most importantly — joy. As a fashion designer herself, Huyen is always looking for sportswear that moves alongside her and makes her run truly stress-free and smooth. Spearheading Joy Run Collective and being a leader in the running community means she wants to both feel good and look good regardless of the weather. It’s why Nike’s new Aerogami… Read more »

It’s a crazy thought for a girl who always longed to be on the stage. “It all started from Walt Disney movies: Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins… You name it, I’ve sung it,” Jobson says, touching on her childhood spent at a local performing arts club. Looking ahead, Jobson has her sights on ITVX’s Platform 7 where she plays the lead role of Lisa. “It’s a psychological thriller, definitely something that’s gonna keep people on their… Read more »

Schön! 45 digital cover | avril lavigne
Avril Lavigne is the blueprint. Since entering the scene with her mammoth 2002 hit, “Complicated,” Lavigne has been a woman of influence. Wearing Moschino and taking a walk down memory lane for her Schön! 45 cover, Lavigne looks back at her career. The Grammy-nominated singer has sold 50 million albums worldwide and captured the zeitgeist of Pop Rock, a genre that became the soundtrack to every hit movie and TV show throughout the 2000s. Now, she’s been able to see just how much her music has impacted an entire generation of girls — some of which include artists like Olivia Rodrigo and Holly Humberstone. “If I told my 17-year-old self that I would inspire a generation by just trusting my gut and being who I am, she might have not believed me,” says Lavigne. “Knowing now that I’ve been part of empowering a whole generation of fierce, independent women is beyond words. I’ve never been one to conform to standards and I am so stoked knowing that my journey has encouraged so many others!” Under the air of 2000s nostalgia, it can be easy to forget that Lavigne’s ascent to superstardom was also met with critique and judgement at the… Read more »

curated | léon
There is no artist like LÉON. The Swedish singer-songwriter has a knack for creating spellbinding songs, weaving together intricate sonics with vulnerable and intimate lyrics. Since her self-titled debut album back in 2019, she’s gone from strength to strength — crafting a discography that is as dynamic as she is. Now, with the release of “Dirt,” her latest single, she’s more herself than ever. Describing it as a “breath of fresh air” to write, she tapped into a world of colour and freedom — mirroring the same space her head has been over the last year or so. “Dirt” is all about desire and leaning into what you really want,” she says. “I was at a place where I felt a bit stuck, and I was searching for something different, so I really leaned into that for this song. This is also the second song I’m releasing completely independently under my own label (LÉON Recordings), which is equally exciting as it is scary. I co-produced it with my dear friend Henrick Nicholson, and I just really can’t wait for people to hear it. I hope people dance to it, put it on while they are driving in their cars.” To… Read more »

Schön! 45 digital cover | becky g wearing Pandora
Nobody shines quite as bright as Becky G. Fresh from her first-ever headline tour, the Latin superstar shimmers in Pandora for her Schön! 45 digital cover story, sharing how her new album proudly pays homage to her Chicana heritage. Moving with intention, her power truly lies in her voice — whether that’s through her platinum-selling music, supporting foundations for causes like Justice for Migrant Women, or spearheading a production company that prides itself on placing an emphasis on telling Latin stories through Latin voices. The 26-year-old may be a mainstream superstar with hundreds of millions of streams under her belt, but in the beginning, breaking into the Latin market as an American artist was challenging. “When I wanted to sing in different languages there really [was] no blueprint for the reverse crossover other than Selena Quintanilla,” she recalls. “Growing up in communities like mine, there are a lot of cards stacked against us, but that’s like a superpower. We have the ability to make something from nothing.” Identity became the subject matter of her new album Esquinas, which translates to ‘corners’ in English. It’s an ode to existing between cultural crossroads, she explains. “I’ve always felt like I had to… Read more »

Five boys from Germany have been taking over the world. Bene Schulz, Luis Freitag, Jacob Rott, Julien Braun and Tim Schäcker — collectively known as Elevator Boys — gained overnight fame for their humorous and entertaining elevator TikToks and “POV” content on social media. After moving in together in 2021, the boys found a feverish following due to their hilarious videos and, more recently, their own music. The release of their debut single “Runaway” saw them achieve their greatest goal yet after they performed to a crowd of 80,000 at Wembley Stadium. Now, chatting with Schön! for their Schön! 45 digital cover story, their hair is oh-so-perfectly quiffed, styled in got2b and wearing Valentino, as they explain how they came together as a group. “Singing or being musical has always been part of our TikToks,” Braun explains. All of the boys have music in their blood, all stemming from musical-infused backgrounds. After a spontaneous and spur-of-the-moment studio session in LA a year ago, they enjoyed it so much that they instantly decided to give it a go professionally. light yet strong | omega seamaster planet ocean dark grey
Sleek. Innovative. State-of-the-art. There are a number of words to describe OMEGA‘s timepieces, but none truly do them the justice they deserve. Since 1848, the Swiss luxury watchmaker has been crafting watches to utter perfection — meticulously adapting, innovating, and reimagining what exactly they could do and be. The result are timeless, classic pieces like OMEGA’s Seamaster collection, a series of watches that have showcased the brand’s dedication to adventure-ready, resistant, and stylish timepieces. The latest addition to that series is Seamaster Planet Ocean Dark Grey. Above all, the Seamaster Planet Ocean Dark Grey is bold and powerful — bringing together the strong foundation of state-of-the-art silicon nitride ceramic with OMEGA’s Grade 5 titanium for the adornments throughout the watch, including the bezel body, sand-blasted dial, and strap folding clasp. What sets it apart is — despite having quite intense materials — the lightness of the watch itself due to the weightlessness of the silicon nitride ceramic. Lustrous and full of OMEGA’s legacy, the Seamaster Planet Ocean Dark Grey weaves together the brand’s commitment to providing watch lovers intricate pieces that join you on your adventures — not weighing you down. Similar to the others in the Seamaster’s range, the… Read more »

transforming running | nike aerogami
For Nike, everything comes back to helping athletes move smoothly. As a way to help runners better regulate their body temperatures while moving, the Nike Explore Team and Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL) created a new performance apparel technology: Nike Aerogami. First launching in the Nike Run Division Aerogami Jacket, the technology features moisture-reactive vents that autonomously open and close when detecting sweat. Imagined and created with runners in mind, the Nike team wanted to provide instant, real-time technology that would help athletes’ bodies as they warm up, sweat and cool down. It consists of a series of tiny winged vents powered by the moisture-reactive film that open as they sense sweat build-up on the skin, providing increased airflow and space for moisture to escape. To learn more about the Nike Aerogami technology, Jahan Behbahany, Senior Apparel Innovation Product Manager at Nike, chats with Schön! At what point did the Nike team realise that the issues runners were facing could be solved by creating something like the Aerogami? Running has always been at the heart of Nike’s culture of innovation. For over 50 years, we have been relentlessly committed to solving problems for runners. With Aerogami, we wanted to find… Read more »
there’s no stopping her | katharine hamnett
This year marks 40 years since Katharine Hamnett launched her first series of slogan t-shirts, including the legendary Choose Life. Putting your feelings on your chest—especially in huge, black letters—might make other people think about certain issues too, was her reasoning at the time. Meanwhile, she figures that slogans don’t really work and that the only way to achieve real change is by legislation — voting the bad ones out and the good ones in. But, at that time, the tees were a huge hit with millions sold, being worn by George Michael, Madonna, Mick Jagger, Oprah, Naomi Campbell, and more recently Dua Lipa and a lot more artists and social activists. The slogans may not work on a political level, but they sure do in other ways: Katharine donated her slogan Choose Love to the organization with the same name that’s working with refugees. Since then, they’ve raised over 100 million £. And when Naomi Campbell wore a Use One top in South Africa, HIV prevention became an important subject in the news. The first time Ninette Murk met Katharine was at a fair in Berlin where Murk was with her first collection of tees for Designers against AIDS… Read more »

interview | aria mia loberti
Aria Mia Loberti‘s journey into the world of acting was anything but conventional. As she reminisces about her childhood, it becomes evident that the seed of creativity was sown early on. She fondly recalls lining up her family at gatherings, a mere six or seven years of age, and putting on captivating shows, complete with impressions, memorized scripts, and dance routines. It was a world of make-believe that hinted at her extraordinary talent, yet she never envisioned it as a viable career path. For many, the dream of pursuing a passion might be limited by societal expectations, particularly when you hail from a marginalized community. The path to realizing one’s aspirations can be obscured by the weight of preconceived notions and practical considerations. The prospect of becoming an actress was seemingly as distant as reaching the moon. But fate works in mysterious ways. While Aria Mia Loberti was pursuing her PhD at university, her discontent with her academic path was undeniable, despite her commendable journey to reach that point. It was then that she received an unexpected casting call from a long-lost teacher, leading her on an extraordinary journey. In a span of just a few weeks, she went from… Read more »

“Icons Feed The Fires, Icons Falling From The Spires” Tear down preconceptions and false binaries to make space for elegance within chaos and for chaos within elegance. It is about reclaiming the parts of ourselves that we are told are shameful, and transcending the culture of violent men. Gender division is rooted in class division and has been used in patriarchal systems to consolidate their power throughout history. The culture of violent men bombards us with warnings about our natural sinfulness and the corruption of our bodies, leaving us with complicated and discordant relationships with the soul and what houses it. Whenever the ruling classes became stronger, the laws grew fiercer – leading to hostility towards transgender people, same-sex love, and other forms of non-conformity. Catholic guilt is overwhelmingly complex. The rules of the Church are the only safe course charted, from which we must not stray, lest we end up in eternal damnation. Guilt and shame are the stars that guide us down paths we are told are treacherous, from the way we navigate the world to the way we explore and express ourselves. The heart of the film lies in the invitation it extends to individuals, encouraging them… Read more »

Everything Jaime Xie does, she does with impeccable style. While chatting on the phone for her Schön! 45 story, Xie is at home in Los Angeles, ardently chatting about her vegan cookie brand JAIMEATS, which she’s been developing for the last year and a half. As a fashionista and star on Bling Empire, tying her love of fashion and food together was natural for Xie. “I want [the cookies] to be cool, sexy, edgy, luxurious and almost a covet-worthy item,” she states. Only Xie could describe cookies as “sexy” and make it sound delectable. As a vegan who doesn’t eat gluten, she found that the sweet options across Los Angeles and the world were lacking. “I was like, ‘I wanna make something that tastes like it’s bad for you, but it’s actually not.’” To attract every kind of sweet tooth, Xie got to work in the kitchen, creating “healthy vegan cookies free from refined sugars, vegetable oils, eggs, dairy, soy and corn,” and that also included various adaptogens. As she envisions her future, it’s clear that Jaime Xie has a lot planned. Her hope is for JAIMEATS to become “something that can be offered backstage at fashion shows or events”,… Read more »
interview | george jaques
At just 23, George Jaques has a resume that could be longer than some people’s entire professional careers. He’s an actor, writer, producer, and director, but most importantly: he’s a lover of film. Our chat is a long time coming — almost a year ago Jaques himself wrote me a message that was, to put it simply, overflowing with excitement about his directorial feature film debut, Black Dog, which had its premiere at the London Film Festival last month. Co-written alongside fellow actor Jamie Flatters when they were 18, Black Dog is a snapshot of youth and an ode to coming-of-age, a time when the freedom and anxiety that come with becoming an adult collide. Unlike some of the nepo babies that breeze through the industry, Jaques didn’t have any fancy connections or familial ties to anyone that could give him a leg up, so he figured it out himself. He wrote the play Dilate based on the teenage drug culture he saw growing up in South West London, eventually staging it in an abandoned railway arch in London Bridge. After that, he wrote another play called Breathe and directed and co-wrote a short film called Silence. The desire and drive to support both… Read more »

Schön! 45 digital cover | victoria monét
With her latest album Jaguar II, R&B star Victoria Monét is paving the way for the genre to have a golden resurgence. Hailing from Sacramento, her album serves as both a warm introduction to her sumptuous sound and a metaphor for her climb to stardom. Since writing for hitmakers like BLACKPINK, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande, she knows a thing or two about crafting a hit track. Now, with her own album soaring the charts, she’s happy to see that her years of producing quality music for huge stars as a songwriter, and making timeless R&B pop songs of her own, are resonating with the mainstream. “It’s really fulfilling and affirming,” she states to us for her Schön! 45 digital cover story. “You work really hard at something, and you write down certain goals and then you realise that some of those things are being checked off. So, my goal is to stay present [and] in the moment.” Serving as an “ode to anybody who feels like they’ve been in the background for a while or haven’t been seen for who they really are,” Jaguar II uses the animal to represent her own path in the music industry. “The jaguar has been in… Read more »

curated | kai novak
Not many can say they are juggling a neuroscience degree and pursuing a career playing professional soccer in England, but it’s something that Canadian soccer icon Kai Novak can say. Although she’s represented 17 Canadian women’s national teams in many tournaments including the CONCACAF U-17 Championship and FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, she also has mastered social media — accumulating a feverish fanbase on TikTok where she posts everything from her Spotify recommendations to behind-the-scenes shots of her playing footie. Schön! enlists the help of Novak to curate some of her favourite song recommendations, define her style for us, and more. Hey Kai, what are you up to right now? I’m currently in London pursuing my dream of playing professional soccer in England while simultaneously finishing my neuroscience degree at UCLA. Part of my family is from the UK and “football” is embedded into the culture – so being able to play here would be incredible. I’m also continuing to build on my professional endeavours as a content creator while striving to impact and ignite more conversations around women in sports and our continuous fight for gender equity and recognition. If someone asked you what your origin story was, how… Read more »

Schön! 45 digital cover | becky lee skirrow in Rabanne H&M
In a dazzling fusion of sensuality and innovation, Rabanne collaborates with H&M and ignites the fashion world with a ’70s pool party collection as seen in Schön! 45. During the collection preview in Paris, Schön! sits down with Julien Dossena, the visionary Creative Director of Maison Rabanne, to discuss how exactly the wild world of Rabanne came together with H&M for its latest designer collaboration. Capturing the same sensual and futuristic essence that Rabanne is known for, the collection brings together unique materials and audacious designs while still catering to H&M’s substantial and global customer base. Working alongside H&M’s Creative Advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson. Rabanne’s aim was to create a collection of garments that kept the same levels and values of sophistication, quality and sensuality that have defined them since first starting. With equal parts innovation and artistic expression, the collection features some daring and bold looks — from retro lounging tracksuits to iconic metallic mesh bags. Giving Rabanne’s Julien Dossena free rein to explore new designs and materials. “For me, it was the astonishing freedom I was given,” he shares. “While I always push my creative boundaries, this collection was about providing a unique sensation — a sense that everyone,… Read more »
interview | annemarie laner
Nestled in a remote mountain in South Tyrol is a studio where artist Annemarie Laner lives and works. From her early studies at the Academy of Applied Arts Vienna to her current role as a celebrated freelancer in Campo Tures, Laner’s path was marked by dedication and distinction, notably receiving awards for her exploration of the absurd in the context of Albert Camus’ work. Serving as both a sanctuary and a creative starting point, Laner’s studio is home to the many projects and pieces she’s created, a gallery of sorts that showcases the artistic journey that has taken her to various locales, influencing her style and perspective. Laner’s exhibitions, residencies, and involvement in projects related to art in construction and sacred areas have enriched her portfolio and expanded her spatial thinking. As the world undergoes profound changes, Laner’s future artistic plans remain adaptable, reflecting the uncertainties of the times. She highlights the transformative power of art and the importance of interpreting messages within their temporal context. Schön! travels to the mountains to chat with Laner about her influences, creative process, and the evolving landscape of contemporary art, emphasizing the ever-shifting balance between tradition and innovation. review | poppy live
There is power in being reborn and reimagined. For Poppy, who teeters across the genres of rock, metal, and everything in between, making a hairpin turn as she goes from album to album is just second nature. She sings it herself: when you zig, I zag. Equal parts powerful and punchy, Zig is a cathartic release of everything Poppy has contained within her, giving listeners and her feverish followers the colour and context to better understand her world. It’s something that’s even more apparent when you see Poppy live — commanding her cult-like attendees with ease as they are completely entranced by her performance, aesthetic, and intricate details flickered throughout the set. The 11 tracks that make up Zig should be viewed as diary entries — intimate scribblings of a woman making sense of the world (Linger), embracing self-love (1s + 0s), and knowing that she can do exactly what she sets her mind to (Prove It.) Where past albums were larger-than-life sonically, Zig is huge in its own way as Poppy moves beyond genre and dances between it, all wrapped up in a synthpop haze. Known for being enigmatic, seeing Poppy live during her co-headlining tour with PVRIS meant to be a witness to not just how… Read more »
Schön! 45 | reality to idea
The world of Colmar is centred around strong family ties, sport and fashion, but it’s also a world where heritage meets innovation, as the latest collaboration reveals. Few Italian companies are as iconic when it comes to the world of skiing as Colmar, the family business founded in 1923 and based in the industrial town of Monza, near Milan. Born as the portmanteau of the names of founder Mario Colombo, Colmar went on to become a leader in style and functionality with sportswear destined for the slopes. As we delve into all things heritage for Schön! 45, we speak with Giulio Colombo, current CEO of Colmar and grandson of Mario, to hear more about the passion for excellence in performance that runs in the family. “Colmar has always been a leading company in sportswear,” Colombo tells us. “Its leadership is based on three pillars: style, performance and heritage.” As the fourth generation steps up to the job too, with Giulio’s daughter Roberta joining the company, the strength of family ties is an evident founding pillar. “Colmar after 100 years is still a family company but wouldn’t be anything without all the people that, at different levels, are working enthusiastically with… Read more »
blabbi x scorpio mood
It’s not often that the worlds of gaming, fashion, and comedy intersect — but when they do, sheer madness unfolds. Blabbi, a new crossword board game using made-up words, is created by sibling creative duo Olive and Adrian Yu. Alongside Scorpio Mood, an archival Instagram portfolio that curates off-kilter, found-footage imagery that borders the uncanny and whimsical, the pair have created a space, between the cute and grotesque – overlapping both brands’ obsession with finding humour and beauty in the bizarre. Despite Blabbi’s goofy premise, the game itself interrogates the absurdity of language creation, cultural specificity, and humour in linguistics and semiotics. Scorpio Mood similarly challenges its audience by evoking an uneasy sense of nostalgia by nodding to familiar cultural phenomena and imagery from art and fashion – effectively reminiscent of a disquieting memory of a forgotten joke or lost photograph. For this collaboration, they’ve teamed up with photographer Nicholas Eliot, avant-garde puppeteer Nova Odette, and stylist Clara Perlmutter to create a whimsical playdate complete with grotesque puppets and gothic fashion. The product is a piece of photographic storytelling that builds on the infinite realities that arise from improbable juxtapositions. Check out Blabbi for yourself at blabbi.games. photography. before it becomes a cult fave | nolinski venezia
To travel back in time, one can jump on a plane (or if you’re somewhere in Europe, catch a train), and get themselves to Venice. Thanks to modern-day travel, the city which was once upon a time challenging to get to, is now much more accessible to visit, which has led to an oversaturation of—let’s face it—cliche travel guides of things to do and see in Venice. We know what to do (visit the Doge’s Palace), what to look at (marvel at St Mark’s Basilica), and where to be seen (Caffe Florian). So, the question turns from: “what can we do in Venice?” to “where should we stay in Venice?” Nestled within the hustle and bustle of Venice’s most infamous shopping district Calle Larga XXII Marzo—which houses the likes of Chanel, Hermes and Louis Vuitton—Nolinski Venezia is easy to miss. Opened in mid-June of this year, the entrance to this new hotel is known only to a select few. Super discreet and quiet, it’s the latest secret in Venice that has yet to be uncovered. The latest offering from EVOK, who owns many properties within France (the guys responsible for Sinner and a Nolinski hotel in Paris), Nolinski Venezia is… Read more »
interview | pato o’ward
As a European, it’s always hard to understand how popular a sport is in the U.S. where the country is almost the size of our whole continent. But as American football is vastly growing in Europe, the same goes for IndyCar. North America’s premier open-wheel racing series featuring a global field of drivers from 15 nations. And as a lot of new international drivers are entering the sport, so are the fans. One of the rising names in IndyCar is the 24-year-old driver Pato O’Ward. The Mexican fan favourite has, while still just in his early twenties, compiled four race victories and 20 podiums in the competitive racing series. If that wasn’t enough, he also achieved second place at the world-known Indy500. Starting at Red Bull Racing, he today drives for the celebrated Arrow McLaren, always bringing out the big crowds thanks to his energetic charm and passion for the motorsport. Schön! sits down with the driver after returning to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, UK during IndyCar off-season and Formula One testing to chat about his love of fashion, food, and, of course, racing. How is your spirit at the moment? I am very good, thank you. I… Read more »

interview | duran duran
There are few bands that possess such a stylised and effortlessly cool sound as the new-wave pioneers, Duran Duran. Founders John Taylor (bass) and Nick Rhodes (Keys, production) were two wide-eyed teens in 1978 and struck up a friendship over a mutual love of music, art and film. Once drummer Roger Taylor joined in 1979 and then vocalist Simon Le Bon a year later, the band was finally complete. From there, Duran Duran soon took over the 1980s, receiving wide-spread acclaim thanks to their slick synth-pop tracks. Yes, this time period was a “golden era” for emerging bands to break-out in the UK music scene. However, there has always been something special about the band from Birmingham. Not only did they reach audiences in the UK, they went global, breaking America and other parts of the world. All you have to do is listen to such infectious hits as Girls On Film, Planet Earth, Hungry Like A Wolf, Rio, and The Reflex to get a real understanding of their melodic genius. Combine this with their trend-setting visual aesthetics and the end result was something truly inimitable for its time. The band was so beloved during the era that they reached… Read more »

Life in London is looking bright for Louis Hofmann. He moved less than a year ago but seems to have picked up the lightness and sense of humour Brits are known for – a far cry from his previous characters, which have been much more quiet, sensitive and introverted. On set for his Schön! 45 photoshoot where he’s adorned in Cartier, the fisheye camera captures the German actor while dancing to the rhythm of Kevin Morby’s songs. Hofmann will soon be starring in All the Light We Cannot See, the Netflix series based on the Pulitzer-winning novel by Anthony Doerr. It portrays the story of a blind French girl and a German soldier, played by Hoffman, whose paths cross through secret radio communication during the Second World War. “All the Light We Cannot See is about goodness, love, hope and innocence – all of which are things you can’t see,” Hofmann explains. “It’s just wonderfully told!” With his flawless British accent, Hoffman seems like any other Londoner, spending his free time wandering around flea markets and vintage stores. “Especially when you move to another country, you are way more open to anything you see,” he explains. “So, I have been… Read more »

the land of fairytales | cappadocia
The world’s best-kept secret is a place that seems like it’s directly created from your dreams. Found in the Anatolian region of Türkiye, Cappadocia boasts one of the most intricate and surreal swooping topography on the globe. Naturally crafted by the erosion from rain, wind, and ice for millions of years, the rock structures are flickered across the region and, because of their stature and prominence, have been described as ‘fairy chimneys’ to visitors and locals alike. If it’s not already on your bucket list, a colourful hot-air balloon ride through the Fairy Valley is a must-do. With the cascading sunrise occurring below, the flight spans a minimum of one hour, bringing you through the rock formations to see the unique and natural lunar landscape. Below, the carvings made by the locals of the Anatolian region can be seen, creating an ‘open-air’ style museum that has been passed down from generation to generation and shared with visitors and friends alike. Across Cappadocia are a number of underground cities that are integral to our world’s history — like the underground cities of Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu which homed thousands of people, including the early Christians. In some of these regions, visitors have… Read more »

interview | almudena amor
It’s hard to make sense of, but Almudena Amor has a bit of sun but also a bit of rain inside her. She is a warm, welcoming woman who emanates a special light, just like a sunset. At the same time, she is also like those stormy summer nights, that voice that tells you a scary story in the middle of the night or the mystery hidden in a dark forest. It’s a pure contrast. She is a woman full of nuances and brave and risky decisions. Her first role as an actress was a total declaration of her intentions. Paco Plaza and his horror movie The Grandmother introduced us to a young actress who carried the weight of a film, with the same strength and tenderness as her character suffered the curses of a decrepit harpy. Her second film, The Good Boss made her duel with a splendid Javier Barden, earning the project the Goya Award for Best Film. And this year, Almudena has managed to lead one of Netflix’s biggest hit shows: The Silence, co-starring the heartthrob Arón Piper. Her character as an elusive and shady psychiatrist obsessed with a young criminal has shocked the audience and elevated… Read more »

The mission of your life should be to leave a better world behind than what you inherited. – Sri Sri Ravi Shankar #AllAboutHeritage There is no present without the past. History — the stories we tell ourselves, the images we share, the laughs we hold dear and the pain we recollect — leaves an indelible imprint on our everyday lives. But history is not something to be feared or retreated from. It is a beacon that can guide our way toward a better future, showing us the magic that came before us and hinting at the beauty still to come. This is why we celebrate our history and the culture — the heritage — it creates. It is in this spirit that we’ve brought together an eclectic array of talents in Schön! 45: #AllAboutHeritage. CELINE | la collection de la bibliothèque national
Fashion gets a cinematic unveiling at CELINE‘s Women’s Summer 2024 collection. The viewing, which occurred at Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), was aptly titled after the place — La Collection de la Bibliothèque National. The film was captured by CELINE’s image director Hedi Slimane who leans into how fashion weaves itself through other spaces in life — literature, architecture, and beyond. Featured in the visuals is British-American actress Esther McGregor, daughter of esteemed actor Ewan McGregor, and British musician Stella Rose, daughter of iconic Depeche Mode lead singer Dave Gahan. As a nod to the ‘tomboy’ lifestyle, the collection is named after the phrase and serves as a nod to Slimane’s dedication to more androgynous tailoring. Headphones are fixated around necks and serve as part of the collaboration between renowned audio engineers Master & Dynamic, casual jeans are paired with more eclectic pieces, and even two-piece sets and Celine’s classic couture jackets are worn with ease. In addition, the collection features a new mix of classics and new bags — the Lola, Victoire, Mini Chain Claude, and Polly models. Tomboy meets luxury in the most stylish way. colmar celebrates 100th anniversary
There is beauty and power in legacy. With that in mind, iconic brand Colmar are celebrating its 100th anniversary this year by creating a curated collection of 10 pieces in collaboration with streetwear designer Joshua Vides. Since 1923, the Milan-based brand has been at the forefront of stylish outer attire. At first, they were geared towards creating small hats, eventually adapting to become a clothing brand that garnered support from Italian ski champions from Leo Gasperl to Zeno Colò who have worn the brand’s garments. At its core, Colmar has always loved collaboration — so much so that their work with visual artist Joshua Vides is the perfect partnership between the two. With a range of coats, knitwear, tops and accessories, Vides deftly designs each piece by pulling from the brand’s own archives to reimagine their “iconic designs as the original sketch.” Whether it’s the nod to the iconic ’70s jacket famously worn by Erwin Stricker via a jacquard and wool-blend knit sweater or matching tracksuits, all aspects of Colmar’s 100th-anniversary collection prove they are constantly thinking ahead to see where they can merge fashion and outerwear. Check out the full capsule collection here.

mr porter x gallery dept.
In a world where sustainability must be at the forefront of everything we do, modern luxury needs to be redefined and reimagined. As part of their 26-piece collection, MR PORTER and Gallery Dept. have collaborated to create an exclusive, limited-edition capsule collection that comprises of ready-to-wear pieces that bring together the bespoke, one-of-a-kind features that Gallery Dept. is known for. “We at MR PORTER pride ourselves on being a destination for discovery and bringing our customers the most in-demand and in-the-know brands, and Gallery Dept. is a great example of that,” explains Mr Daniel Todd, Buying Director at MR PORTER. “This capsule is a celebration of the long-standing relationship between our two brands and is the first time Gallery Dept. has worked with a retailer on this scale. Expanding beyond the must-have logo tees, we really wanted this collection to showcase the breadth of Gallery’s offering, which is something you really get a sense of when you visit their LA store. Hopefully styles like the rip-and-repair denim and patchwork painters will help to bring that sense of artisanal craft to a global audience.” The collection consists of garments that have been repurposed and, in a way, remade new by using upcycling… Read more »
the formentera experience
The Balearic Islands really do afford the residents, the travellers, and the tourists very diverse experiences in this Micro-Mediterranean Archipelago. Inter-island vacationing is nothing new, but it requires a certain amount of effort and proper planning, to make it an all-around enjoyable experience. THE JOURNEY While discussing our next destination, we received a kind invitation to spend a few days on the idyllic spit of land and sand found a 1/2 hour from Ibiza, which is Formentera. We had to immediately decide the best way to get from Palma, Mallorca to Formentera in August. It soon became apparent The Balearia “Eleanor Roosevelt” Ferry was by far the most sensible choice. Check-in is at 6:30 a.m. which also takes care of your return trip, departure to Ibiza is at 8am. On arrival in Ibiza, you change ferries, which is very well organized, as they have a bus waiting to take you straight to The Formentera Ferry, which is a 35-minute crossing, making it in total a 3 1/2-hour journey. Top Tip: Do not even entertain the thought of flying in the high season (winter months Palma/ Ibiza by air, and vice versa, can avoid choppy seas). Book the VIP section on… Read more »

interview | amy jackson
Amy Jackson is primed to take over the world. The British actress, model, and philanthropist has a knack for selecting projects, campaigns, and causes that both speak to her soul and enrich her worldview. Since getting scouted when she was younger, she’s worked alongside brands like Cartier, Bvlgari, Hugo Boss and a number of others, and has just recently wrapped up on a whirlwind tour of this month’s fashion shows around the globe. Schön! chats with Amy Jackson about her earliest beginnings, what it has meant to her to have her son visit on set, and more. When you think back to younger Amy who got scouted while on a train in Manchester, how would you think you’ve grown as a creative and as a human between then and now? Like a great deal of creatives, I ‘feel’ a lot and it’s my gut instinct and intuition that navigates me through important decisions in life. When I look back at the early days, I wish I had listened to my deeper knowing more so than other people who were primarily out for their own gain, but it was through embracing those failures that led me to discover new paths in… Read more »
a true escape | marbella club hotel
If you were to picture paradise, the image that would come to mind is the Marbella Club Hotel. Nestled on the southern Spanish Costa del Sol, the Marbella Club Hotel, a Leading Hotel of the World, boasts luxury and relaxation that is equal parts magical and soothing. Since 1954, the hotel has been a hideaway of sorts to guests longing for a true escape; a place to both experience mindfulness while also shutting off. Whitewashed bungalows lead you to the picturesque ocean and if you peek inside one will find an array of bespoke designs and styles. In particular, El Patio showcases retro-Cali-inspired décor created by Spanish design studio, EMCI. Rather than feeling like a stereotypical beach-style holiday, the year-round hotel consists of an area of villas, apartments, and suites that sit alongside spectacular sub-tropical gardens that make you feel like it is your home away from home. Families from all generations could be seen taking advantage of all of what Marbella Club Hotel has to offer — which is essentially everything one could ever need at your fingertips. From yoga and a fitness center to an equestrian facility and a gold resort, Marbella Club Hotel has something for everyone. Differing… Read more »

interview | samantha tan
While the majority of motorsport racers are driving to survive, Samantha Tan is driving to inspire. As one of the few female race car drivers on the track, Tan isn’t just surviving but thriving as she heads up her own eponymous race team and consistently jostles for podium finishes in the fastest GT class across the US and Europe. Tan has not only mastered her need for speed but honed her razor-sharp focus in both sprint and 24-hour endurance races, pushing her mind and body to the limit. So much so, that she’s one of the few drivers who’s been snapped up by both BMW and Ferrari. Not just content with keeping her sights firmly set on this year’s championship prize, she’s also determined to lead a more diverse starting grid. It’s fair to say that the Netflix Drive to Survive effect has brought new sponsors and fans to the world of motorsport in their droves. While Formula 1 remains on pole position for now, other motorsport categories such as NASCAR and sportscar racing are hot on their heels. Having earned her stripes in sports car racing, Tan secured her spot on the GT World Challenge America and GT World… Read more »
biscayne boulevard
The American way of life is captured in this editorial photographed by Gildas Raffenel who imagined this story as a tribute to Martin Parr’s vision. A daily routine on the famous Miami Boulevard, photographed on a few blocks on Biscayne Boulevard, Raffenel worked alongside Émilie Berger who styles model Jazmyne Joy in looks by Alexander Wang, Gucci, Mugler and others, with hair and make up by Natasha Katrina. Schön! speaks with Raffenel about his beginnings in photography, where he pulls inspiration from, and more. How did you first get into photography? Becoming a photographer has always been a natural path for me, ever since my father placed a Canon AE-1 in my hands during my teenage years. I never envisioned myself doing anything else; academics didn’t quite captivate me. It was through a photography internship at the age of 14 that I discovered this profession. Subsequently, what drew me closest to the world of imagery was pursuing studies in film and audiovisuals in high school and later at ICART, a photography school in Paris. Your career first brought you into photojournalism, what inspired you to pursue that? During the first year of this school in 2005, I had the chance to… Read more »

Magazine to discuss how she joined the BMW Motorrad team, thriving in a male-dominated field, and more. Could you please provide a short overview of your career path up until now? Let’s call it life path, career path sounds like there is way too much ambition involved! I have always followed my gut feeling to reach my goals in my personal as well as professional development. Growing up with two older brothers, I became interested in all the latest technological advancements at an early age and, being curious by nature, I decided to study mechanical engineering. red september
The clothing in our wardrobe represents who we are — an expression of our dreams, desires, and who we want to be. For Red September, they believe fashion serves as a therapy session in itself — a place where the clothes speak for you and comfort you during times of pain and joy. In their Men’s SS24 collection, they believe that to bare one’s soul means to seemingly have a garment’s ‘seams out’ in material like denim. A favourite of creative director Olga Vasyukova, denim is a mainstay across everything Red September creates, from fraying ends to rips at the knees going with you from experience to experience. Rather than feeling typical and bland, men’s shirts and trousers are redefined and reimagined with touches of acids, burning and making their mark on the garment itself. For the women’s SS24, Red September gives a new look to classic pieces by cutting out parts of symmetric A-line skirts and bomber jackets, a nod to ‘baring one’s soul’ in a cheeky way. Denim, too like the men’s collection, sees itself become braided and cut apart to be made new and refreshed, paired with the brand’s classic pleated shirts. The men’s spring-summer 2024 collection… Read more »
genova jeans
Think of your favourite pair of jeans. They are a worn-in, trusty, and fashionable pair of denims that you live in as much as possible, a fashion staple that you reach for over and over. But do you know about the history of where jeans came from? With the unveiling of GenovaJeans‘ upcoming edition, they are ready to remind you about the beauty of Genoa-made jeans. From the fifth to the eighth of October, GenovaJeans will be in Genova presenting to a myriad of fashion’s best tastemakers and showing them exactly what makes this historic and iconic brand so special. Known as the “Blue from Genoa” or “Bleu de Gênes,” the ancient harbour of Genoa was the birthplace of what we now know as blue jeans after clothes made of the fabric were dyed indigo and crossed the Atlantic. With this significant and renowned aspect of the garment’s history, GenovaJeans will showcase the responsibility of creating and manufacturing jeans properly while also transforming the Italian city into an open-air networking space that will inspire the innovative jeans community. The upcoming edition, which will be launched by ambassadors of GenovaJeans Rosita Missoni and Claudio Marenzi, will demonstrate the brand’s five pillars:… Read more »

power of desire | ferrari style ss24
The words “power” and “boundless” are synonymous when you hear the word Ferrari. Driven and dynamic, Ferrari encapsulates the idea of desire being a “timeless” feeling that ripples through everything they create. It’s something woven through the brand’s latest collection — one that marks their fifth — where each garment bridges the world of fashion and racing together through craftsmanship and passion. Serving as an ode to the Power of Desire that lives within every one of us, the collection shows racing, workwear, and tailoring come together through experimental denim and technical wool. Spearheaded by Creative Director Rocco Iannone, the collection “de-saturates to emphasise, reduces to accentuate, and then reiterates to identify.” Every piece is crafted to perfection — silhouettes dance between short and long, curved and straight. Garments showcase different aspects of the body — sometimes perfectly sculpted to the skin or larger-than-life proportions. With nude tones, bold red hues, and transparent sheer frocks, Ferrari’s latest collection truly does bring together racing, workwear, and tailoring — finding the perfect synergy in the art of fashion with the art of luxury sports attire. Take a closer look at Ferrari’s SS24 collection now.
