review | jonas brothers live in london

In what marks almost 20 years since the band’s beginnings, Jonas Brothers played their final night at London’s O2 arena for THE TOUR on 17 September. The international tour sees the Grammy-nominated trio perform across 26 countries for 98 shows and the straightforward tour title does a good job of foreshadowing what you can expect: a sing and dance down memory lane to every Jonas Brothers album. No matter when you joined the JoBro fanbase there was a moment for everybody. From their Disney era — including some Camp Rock crowd favourites like Play My Music and Gotta Find You — through to their time as solo artists and their most recent 2023 project The Album. They even treated the audience to a brand new and unreleased song written back in August, Nick told the crowd. It was a beautiful harmony and included some crowd anticipation.

Jonas Brother delivered on the classics while also showcasing their evolution. It’s always refreshing to see artists who don’t shy away from the early days of their discography but instead celebrate it as affording them the platform that they have today. The band gets extra nostalgia points for their surprise guest British pop-punk band Busted who were at the height of the charts in the early 200s.  Their hit song Year 3000 was famously covered by the Jonas Brothers, making their live collab a highlight moment of the night.

The pacing of the entire show felt seamless with the brothers moving between two stages set within the crowd, occasionally stopping to ask fans questions and read out their homemade signs. The band’s vocals were particularly impressive, delivering on every song with range and finesse. Live band elements like the saxophone and trumpet only elevated their showmanship. As a trio, Jonas Brothers not only held their own in a packed stadium, but also wowed crowds while performing hits from their solo careers like Jealous by Nick Jonas and Cake by The Ocean by Joe Jonas’ former band DNCE who featured inside Schön! issue 30. Although the set design was nothing particularly notable, the show was so dynamic that there was nothing to be missed. Jonas Brothers will always have a diehard fanbase and their newest music proves that they have the catalogue to keep doing international tours for a long time.

Jonas Brothers’ ‘The Tour’ will continue across Europe until 16 October 2024.
