With the release of Hocus Pocus 2 and the second season of the revived Gossip Girl, actress Whitney Peak is diving into the two cult classics with equal parts grace and ease — and joins Schön! 43 as our first digital cover star, dressed in CHANEL.
At 19, Peak’s rise to the screen is something of a dream. From working with Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba to starring in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the actress has skillfully mastered her craft before even leaving her teens. “Acting started as a novelty,” she explains. “It came to fruition as an actual career path and passion, so that was a big relief on my end.”
It was her casting in the cheeky reboot of the much-loved, highly-discussed Gossip Girl that brought her stardom to another level. Portraying Zoya Lott, the illegitimate younger half-sister of her influencer sister that cunningly moves to Manhattan to get to know her. As the youngest of 4 siblings, Peak understands the importance of connecting with one’s siblings — and speaks with the perspective of someone well beyond her years, much like her character.
But before Gossip Girl airs in December, Peak is conjuring up a different role: Disney+’s long awaited Hocus Pocus 2. The role meant Peak worked closely with the original cast consisting of the greats — Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker. each reprise their iconic roles. “I wasn’t thinking about the perception, or the bigger picture. “I had never seen [the original] Hocus Pocus, and my friends were shocked that I hadn’t seen it. I thought, ‘Where was I that I just missed this entire part of seemingly everybody’s life?!’”
Hocus Pocus 2 is streaming exclusively on Disney+ now.
Season 2 of Gossip Girl will air on HBO Max in December.
