“Kids’ fashion is playful, fun and innovative,” says Alex Theophanous, founder and CEO of AlexandAlexa.com. “We all believe it deserves its own dedicated platform.” That is why the online children’s department store is sponsoring the first ever Global Kids Fashion Week, in association with children’s charity Kids Company.
The two-day event will run from 19th to 20th March 2013 at the Freemason’s Hall in London, which is better known for housing more grown-up catwalks during London Fashion Week. This time round, Theophanous will be using the venue to “put children’s fashion on the map worldwide” by showcasing ‘mini me’ collections from luxury labels such as Paul Smith Junior, Junior Gaultier, Chloe and Little Marc Jacobs. Premium casual brands Tommy Hilfiger and Diesel will also present their little numbers alongside emerging and independent labels. Ambassadors supporting the event include model Portia Freeman and my-wardrobe.com founder Sarah Curran.
The schedule will include a public show on 20th March, followed by performances and playful activities for children and parents, organised in collaboration with the V&A Museum of Childhood. Tickets for this fun packed event are available on Ticketmaster from February, with all proceeds donated to children’s charity Kids Company.
