Director Katharina Baron discovered 19 year old dancer and model Mason Binetti thanks to her modelling agent Jesse from Other People’s Children. She paired him with the music from young pianist Nelson Diaz and poetry written and read by Alicia Henry.
“I wanted to create a moving painting. Mason reminded me of Mark Morris in his early days with his long hair and we wanted to push our beauty standards towards a non binary feel with the great make up and hair by Aaron Barry and Christy Tagatac. In the end we captured a feeling, a mood. From the poetry to the song – called energy & beauty this is the new star child.”
