Monsieur Christian Lacroix tends not to spoil us. Preferring to tease, his trademark bold designs are now released at a slow pace, as the beloved couturier’s time nowadays tends to be spent as a costumier for the ballet and opera, hand-making ceramics and quenching his thirst for art and history. Today, however, the artist has blessed us with a new collaboration with Desigual — one enriched with culture and his eclectic influences.
For this exciting new collaboration, Lacroix nods to Fauvism through vibrant strokes of colour incorporated into sports leggings, a mesh turtleneck and a glossy asymmetrical skirt trimmed with lace. The glossy black leotard layered over yellow leggings, paying homage to the eighties, gives a sense of occasion to activewear; its ruched padded shoulders and leather and suede belt also work together to create a bold feminine silhouette. The collection is fit for the gym, the street, the office, and drinks while denouncing the simplicity of basics and monochrome. Simply put, the Desigual x Lacroix woman is active and doesn’t abide by subtly.
An antidote to the return of formal wear after over a year in leisure — the union of Desigual and Lacroix joins comfort and function with the ornate taste of Lacroix. Voilà, clothing that champions the art of living!
