Imagine colour having its own heartbeat. In Prada’s latest fine jewellery collection, ‘Couleur Vivante,’ that pulse drives everything from the unexpected clash of gemstones to the tension between tradition and subversion. Designed by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, the collection explores how colour can reshape meaning, working with harmonies, contradictions, and surprising symmetries.
Rather than focusing on classic diamonds and emeralds, Prada has chosen gemstones like amethyst, aquamarine, madeira citrine, pink morganite, and oro-verde peridot. Each was selected for its chromatic intensity to challenge ideas of luxury and preciosity. Set in unexpected pairings and unconventional proportions, the pieces reframe classic forms, such as drop earrings, solitaire rings, rivière necklaces, and line bracelets, through subtle distortions and deliberate contrasts.
The campaign, shot by David Sims and directed by Ferdinando Verderi, features three dynamic women and brand ambassadors: American poet Amanda Gorman, actor Maya Hawke, and South Korean actor Kim Tae-Ri. Portraits are captured in striking monochrome, then layered with translucent veils of colour that mirror the stones’ luminosity. The effect is dreamlike yet grounded: the jewellery appears weightless, almost floating, its saturated tones heightened by soft washes behind the faces.
Beneath the artistry lies Prada’s push for innovation. The Milan-based brand’s first fine jewellery collection, Eternal Gold, which launched in 2022, was a groundbreaking moment for the luxury industry. Building on the brand’s commitment to sustainability, exemplified by its Re-Nylon production, Prada became the first global luxury brand to use 100% certified recycled gold.
To ensure complete transparency, each Couleur Vivante piece is registered on the Aura Consortium blockchain, a platform co-founded by Prada with LVMH and Cartier. This allows clients to trace the entire journey of their jewels, from rough stone to polished setting, complete with independent gemological certification. Transparency becomes another form of luxury, tying craft and technology together.
Couleur Vivante is Prada’s colourful answer to what defines luxury. By letting colour take the lead, the collection finds its own rhythm, redefining what fine jewellery can really be.
The Couleur Vivante collection will be available starting October. Find out more here.
