In a cool example of how the internet continues to infiltrate our lives, Hauser Online are hosting an online exhibition by Aaron McElroy titled ‘After Wake’, allowing viewers to interact with the art 24/7. The exhibition features dreamlike images, captured from McElroy’s real life interactions with anonymous female subjects, nature and random artefacts.
The artwork on offer provides a look into a stream of consciousness, true to life in the way they appear to go from one tangent of thought to another, further highlighted in the manner that they are displayed. The effect of this, is an exhibition which allows viewers to use their own imagination, adding their own meanings to what the images mean.
The New York based artist lives and works in Brooklyn and after graduating from the New England School of Photography in 2007 has gone on to exhibit in solo shows at various galleries, including Horton Gallery New York, and Ampersand Gallery Portland. His work has also appeared as part of group exhibitions at FOAM Photography Museum Amsterdam, Smack Mellon Brooklyn, Chelsea Art Museum New York and Noorderlicht Gallery Groningen, among others. Most recently McElroy was featured in the book Nudity Today: edited by Jesse Pearson and published by Picture Box
The intimate images are available in the signed monograph ‘After Awake’ which is available here.
The exhibition is available show from now until 13th October 2013. View the exhibition in full here: www.hauserandhauser.com/artists/aaron-mcelroy/exhibition/
