Armellin honed her craft in the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, before founding V°73 in 2011. For autumn-winter, Armellin imagined a collection that would reflect and celebrate her city’s roots: “This place is the Venetian Garden, a corner out of time where the sounds, the colours and smells are intense and inebriant,” she relates, speaking of the connection between Venice, Queen of the Adriatic sea, and her designs. Craftsmanship is at the heart of the V°73 enterprise, focusing on utility and durability, making each bag an investment that resists the fleeting nature of trends. In line with this timelessness, Venice is a perfect source to draw on aesthetically. “I’m fascinated by the magical atmosphere that reigns in Venetian gardens,” Armellin exclaims. “The vegetation is protected by centuries-old walls that surround and hide plants and flowers, orchards and vineyards, in an inaccurate geometry that exists only in the most secret spots of Venice.”
Three lines build up the V°73 collection, the Doge, Alpha and Selva lines are the triptych core of Armellin’s designs. The first, a tribute to the Doge di Venezia, namely the most senior elected officials of Venice, is a stately offering that celebrates the cult of Saint Mark. Crafted in eco-leather, Doge is a timely take on Venetian classics. The Selva line, on the other hand, consists of beautifully practical shopper bags crafted from faux black leather. Last but not least, the Alpha line comprises shopper bags, backpacks and clutches, seamlessly blending things technological with a more bohemian edge.
