Fashion month is in full swing. But before we move onto Paris, we’d be remiss if we didn’t take a look back at our recent experience in our home country: jolly old England. London Fashion Week was, as it usually is, a delight. That’s why we’re taking a tour through the week, going behind-the-scenes with photographer Quentin de Ladelune for an exclusive view of the world of London fashion.
Tommy Hilfiger’s LFW presentation was an exploration of the past, present, and future. The TommyNOW event featured the likes of Naomi Campbell and showed the brand’s newest collaboration with Lewis Hamilton in celebration of Tommy’s 35th anniversary.
Chinese outerwear label Bosideng made its London Fashion Week debut this year, joining the host of Chinese brands making the country an up-and-coming fashion hotspot. Neon-toned looks took inspiration from contemporary streetwear, making for a fun and delightfully modern collection.
As is often the case in the shows of today, sustainability was a major talking point during the week. Nowhere was this more the case that Richard Malone’s show, where the designer took the idea of sustainable and environmentally-friendly creation to heart. Showing full transparency — including the hourly wages of his local cutters and tailors — alongside beautiful looks, Malone’s show is sure to linger in our minds for quite some time.
Underage’s texture-rich deconstructions dazzled. The label claims to stand for the “experimental youth, the few that dare to challenge conventions and break free from the boundaries of conformity”— an ethos on full display at LFW. Unconventional and full of life, Underage’s designs were a bent, twisted joy.
To complete our coverage, On|Off showcased some of the most inspiring international fashion designers of the current generation. The runway show left no room for pause, presenting a vibrant display with its eyes set on the future.
