From Barbie to Borderlands , 15-year-old Ariana Greenblatt is mesmerising Hollywood with her star quality. You may have spotted Ariana Greenblatt as Young Gamora in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and more recently in Sci-Fi thriller 65 , but her role in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie film was a dream come true for the starlet, who acted beside Margot Robbie and soaked up her technique “like a sponge.”
While dazzling in Pandora , Greenblatt speaks with Schön! for her Schön! 44 digital cover story, reminding us why she’s the go-to actress for so many projects: she rises to each challenge like a pro, consistently impressing audiences with her aptitude and authenticity. “I feel more experienced with every film I do,” she says. “I’ve gone from being eight years old… to a teen aware of my surroundings and the hardships of growing up.”
With Barbie , one of the most anticipated films of the year, Greenblatt ventures on the journey to Barbie’s sugarplum penthouse — which included three rounds of auditions and a Zoom meeting with Gerwig and [Margot] Robbie. Together with her mum, she also visited Gerwig in her hotel room, where the three women drank tea and feasted on a cookie-filled gift basket Greenblatt had brought to placate her new boss’ sweet tooth. It took a while for Greenblatt’s new reality on the set of Barbie to hit the actress, and she remembers confronting her mother and yelling, “This isn’t real! What’s happening?”, but she was soon taking cues from co-star Margot Robbie. “She’s the definition of ‘a boss’,” says Greenblatt. “If someone asked for advice, she would be there in an instant, even though she’s a producer and doing a million different things.”
