Ambassador Georg Boomgaarden in collaboration with Schön! Magazine hosted the “Welcome to Deutschland!” pre-Olympic event celebrating creative industries on board of dreamliner MS Deutschland on Wednesday evening.

German fashion and lifestyle glossy Schön! Magazine is a prime example of the global success of German creative industries. German-born Londoner editor-in-chief Raoul Keil is also the mastermind behind creative network site Nineteen74.com, aiming to create an “epicentre” for talented artists from around the globe

The London Olympics starting tomorrow is an outstanding example of the important role the creative and cultural industries are assuming worldwide as a driver of growth and employment, a force for global contact and communication beyond borders, and, above all, a realisation of human potential.

Germany’s creative industries have been very successful all over the world: 240,000 companies with over 1 million employees generating roughly 2.6% of total German GDP each year. The creative industries have proved remarkably crisis-proof, continuing to grow at 2% a year even in these volatile economic times.
