Nathy Peluso has been described as many things — from ‘disrupter’ to ‘provocateur’ — but the word that truly defines her is ‘limitless.’ For someone to be truly limitless, they defy all boundaries — a trait that Peluso wholeheartedly embodies. Peluso, who wears JACQUEMUS for her Schön! 44 digital cover, was just nine when she left her native Argentina and arrived in Spain. In the fall of 2017, she released her first body of work her EP Esmeralda , and since then Peluso has been crafting a dynamic and deft discography. Now, as she waves the flag for Argentina as a renowned and acclaimed artist across the globe, Peluso is enjoying playing with her own limits — both in her music and her private life.
“I’m always going to save a bit of myself, of my intimacy, for my family and friends, but I think my career so far has been quite natural and genuine,” Peluso explains. “The way people see me onstage is, of course, more histrionic. That said, my ideals, morals, the things I stand for, the things I talk about – though tinged with some fantasy and imagination – are all the same.”
For Peluso, music is a place to test and provoke herself; to figure out certain things and explore her own creativity. “This is a high-intensity profession; you need a lot of energy,” she states. “It’s tiring, but at the same time, seeing the fruits of your labour is comforting. When you step on stage, you know everything is worth it.” Again, for a powerhouse like Peluso, it’s all about pushing the limit.
