As we stride into 2025, the conversation around wellness has evolved beyond physical fitness. Health is no longer confined to athletic achievement but is now understood as a balance of body, mind, and connection to one’s surroundings. The idea of “mens sana in corpore sano” has taken on fresh significance, resonating with a culture increasingly focused on holistic well-being. In this climate, brands are stepping up, creating products that merge performance with mindfulness, encouraging individuals to embrace movement as an expression of self-care.
Nike, ever at the forefront of innovation, embodies this shift with its upcoming release: the Vomero 18, a road-running shoe that prioritises maximum cushioning and comfort. Arriving on 27 February 2025, it redefines what it means to run well — inviting athletes of all levels to push their limits and rediscover the joy of running. The lingering question is: can a running shoe ignite this change?
Crafted with dual layers of ZoomX and ReactX foams, the Vomero 18 offers an unparalleled plush ride. The shoe introduces the tallest stack height in its history, standing at 46mm — 6mm higher than its predecessor. Nike’s Running Footwear Product Line Manager Ashley Campbell describes it as “a soft, plush experience that alleviates feeling the impact of the ground underfoot,” adding that the shoe is purpose-built for runners of all kinds, from seasoned marathoners to beginners.
Designed with insights from women runners, the Vomero 18 caters to all genders while reflecting the preferences of its muse. Its breathable engineered mesh upper combines comfort and durability, and the silhouette’s bold design, led by the luminous Atmosphere Pink colourway, speaks to individuality and joy. The perfect shoe to improve performance while celebrating self-expression.
This release marks a new chapter for Nike, aligning with a broader vision to simplify its running footwear lineup. By focusing on cushioning — be it maximum, responsive, or supportive — Nike ensures runners can find the right shoe for their needs without confusion. As Senior Director Marian Dougherty explains, “We’ve simplified our Road Running Footwear Lineup to obsessively focus on the timeless need for cushioning.”
As 2024 comes to an end, wellness is becoming more about finding meaning in movement, and the Vomero 18 is here to lead the way.
