nautical with a twist | tommy hilfiger ss 25 collection

Tommy Hilfiger once again captivated New York Fashion Week with an unforgettable Spring 2025 collection, merging nostalgia and contemporary edge in a bold celebration of nautical style. On September 8th, the fashion world boarded a piece of New York history as the show took place on the decommissioned MV John F. Kennedy, a Staten Island ferry, docked at Pier 17. Against the backdrop of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, the collection unfolded, showcasing the iconic American brand’s maritime heritage with a fresh twist.

Hilfiger, a long-time lover of all things nautical, revived signature red, white, and blue motifs, but this time with a modern, city-ready energy. “We’re revisiting the nautical and maritime inspirations that have defined our signature look since 1985,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “Today, it’s updated and remixed for 2025: the look has the ease of effortless summer style, but with a confidence that feels ready to step off the ferry and back into the city.”

The collection itself was a masterclass in blending classic maritime elements with modern streetwear sensibilities. Breton stripes and sailor-inspired Ithaca shirting added a timeless touch, while lightweight sailcloth nylons and crinkled cottons were reimagined in casual-chic regatta jackets and utility pants. Women’s capri pants — cut in a mix of checks and solids — paired effortlessly with oversized fisherman knits, while classic preppy looks got an upgrade with varsity jackets in a mix of linen and leather. A reimagined “New American Prep” aesthetic tied it all together, infusing coastal ease into a wardrobe designed for urban life.

Accessories, too, added a playful twist. Hand-woven coastal slippers and chunky rope TH Monogram raffia caps completed looks, with necktie bandanas and hand-knitted polos softening the otherwise bold silhouettes.

Adding star power to the front row were K-pop icons Felix and Lee Know from Stray Kids, Jisoo of Blackpink, and actor Damson Idris. The runway itself was graced by model Abby Champion, cheered on by her fiancé Patrick Schwarzenegger. Special guests included musical talents like Tinashe, Quavo, Doechii, Ayra Starr, and the Japanese rock band Mrs. Green Apple, alongside global cultural icons such as Canadian actor Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and T-Wave stars Pond, Phuwin, Fourth, and Gemini. The show’s finale reached a crescendo with electrifying performances by Wu-Tang Clan legendsGhostface Killah, Method Man, and Raekwon, underscoring the event’s unique fusion of culture and fashion. Questlove’s carefully curated soundtrack only added to the night’s high energy, creating a multi-sensory celebration of creativity.

With Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2025 collection, the iconic brand continues to cement itself as a fashion powerhouse that effortlessly connects its storied past with the pulse of contemporary culture. This collection, drawing from the brand’s deep nautical roots while evolving toward new horizons, demonstrated Hilfiger’s ongoing mastery of timeless style with a modern twist.

As New York Fashion Week sails onward, this show will surely remain a highlight — both for the breathtaking views and for Hilfiger’s unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of American style.
