As part of its SS25 fashion show, Desigual is honouring where they’ve been and where they are headed with “Reflections,” their latest collection. In Barcelona, the collection highlighted the creativity, innovation, and joy that have defined the brand since 1984. Desigual is synonymous with individuality and uniqueness and “Reflections” is no different — renowned Hollywood actress and activist Hari Nef opened the show with a cascading transparent tulle dress that is reminiscent of Barcelona’s stunning sunsets, a swirling collection of hues from sky blue to yellow to orange. “Reflections” is a vibrant world with a collection inspired by the Mediterranean Sea, summer sunsets, the 90s and 2000s, surfing, and the dynamic city of Barcelona.
Under the creative direction of Helena Tejedor, Desigual’s archival pieces are transformed into fresh, contemporary masterpieces. The accessories lineup boasts bold Voyager maxi bags, sandals emblazoned with Desigual’s signature “D” on the heel, and chic Gigi Studios sunglasses. The collection embraces the theme “Reflections,” featuring skirts adorned with embedded mirrors and metallic or reflective accessories. The designs emphasize layering and surf-inspired details, narrating a journey from day to night and capturing the essence of the Desigual girl. This versatile and youthful collection is imbued with nostalgia and a spirited attitude.
In regards to the show’s beauty, the makeup and hairstyling, curated by Max Factor, Thuya, and Wella Professionals, celebrate natural beauty with a “straight-from-the-sea” aesthetic. Think wet hair, dewy skin, and rosy cheeks for a fresh, radiant, and glowing finish. Dive into this enchanting blend of past and present, and let the Mediterranean magic sweep you away. Similarly, the SS25 collection revisits Desigual’s Mediterranean roots and brand archives, focusing on style, innovation, and versatility. It is an ode to the ephemeral beauty of spring and summer, evoking the nostalgia of long days by the sea and capturing the essence of blossoming and rebirth in nature. The runway, over 100 meters long and set in the city’s port, featured mirrors aligned to replicate the sunset over the Barcelona coast as the backdrop. The set design, directed by the Paris-based creative studio Matière Noire, reflected on the brand’s past, present, and future, while John Talabot brought the show’s soundtrack to life.
By returning to the brand’s roots 40 years after its beginning, it speaks to the direction Desigual is headed — using “Reflections” to quite literally reflect on where they’ve been and build upon that through introspection.
