The holidays are a time to celebrate the bonds we share and the people we hold nearest and dearest. It’s why the friendship between the House of Dior and Harrods, the iconic department store, has lasted 70 years from 1953. As a celebration of those aforementioned friendships, Dior and Harrods are coming together to present The Fabulous World of Dior, a show-stopping presentation of illumination and deft craftsmanship.
The collaboration, which is displayed throughout the halls of Harrods, blends the unique charm of the English spirit with the lush beauty of French luxury. On display now from the 10th of November until the 3rd of January 2023, The Fabulous World of Dior takes visitors into a magical and whimsical world that is equal parts daring and unique. Enveloping the Brompton Road edifice is an installation of lights, dancing as they demonstrate Dior’s nod to artist Pietro Ruffo for the Dior cruise 2023 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Adorning the installation includes a compass rose, lucky stars, and flowers throughout, helping visitors navigate in awe of each window display. Bringing together all of Dior’s worlds and motifs, from fashion to beauty.
With the spirit of Christmas at the forefront, two pop-up stores weave together Christmas fairytales through every detail. The first is designed as an authentic gingerbread house that embodies Monsieur Dior’s Atelier and requests visitors to explore the House and its creations. By use of a conveyor belt, visitors journey throughout the pop-up to view Lady Dior’s unveiling of its distinct architectural lines through an entrancing ballet. Throughout the first pop-up, visitors can see the Dior Book Tote, showcased with its detail-centric embroidery, through the use of a fun optical illusion, in addition to the wide collection of leather goods and mico-bags.
The second pop-up is a euphoric gift shop, giving everyone the chance to seek out a gift to give on Christmas Day, whether it’s ready-to-wear or shoes. An ode to the beautiful wintertime feeling, the second pop-up displays Dior’s knit sweaters, adorned with gorgeous patterns, in addition to homeware items first shown in the Dior Chez Moi capsule. As a whole, the spirit of the pop-up is a cozy nod to Monsieur Dior and the iconic and history identity of the House.
After walking through winter, visitors have the chance to visit Café Dior at Harrods, honouring both Monsieur Dior’s love of gastronomy and the love the British have for café culture and hospitality. From unique gingerbread to French cuisine, those visiting Café Dior can fill their spirits a la Hansel and Gretel and give into their sweet tooth with Christmas desserts, too. Better yet, Dior’s collector treats — like the Bar jacket, the Dior Book Tote, Saddle and Lady Dior bags — are available exclusively at Harrods, to either be given as a gift to a loved one this season or to take home to indulge.
