Since her early beginnings, Karol G has been on an upward trajectory, and she is not ready to stop yet. The queen of Reggaeton presents her new single SEJODIOTO.
When Carolina Giraldo, aka Karol G, picks up the phone, the first thing she tells us is that she’s cold. She’s just landed in New York after spending a week in Miami where she performed during the Billboard Latin Music Week. The Colombian singer carved her way into the male-dominated world of Reggaeton and, for more than 15 years, has been climbing to the top of the music charts. After her hit song Tusa – featuring Nicky Minaj – took the world by storm, she returns to the stage with a fresh look and a brand new song.
Congratulations on your two Billboard awards. How do you feel?
It was a really special week. I’m super happy with my performance and then receiving those awards was just incredible. Best Female Artist and Best Female Album, those were the two that I got. The one for the album means so much to me because I tried my hardest to make it perfect and to my liking.
In addition to your performance, you presented your new single SEJODIOTO. Tell us more about the song and the meaning behind it.
It came from doing Tusa, Ay, DiOs Mío!, Bichota. I wanted to have a song where again women would hear it and feel empowered, flirtatious, pretty, sexy, ‘mamacitas’, so I came back with SEJODIOTO! It’s a song that tells the story of a single girl and, now that she’s single, she’s going to enjoy that to the utmost.
