louis vuitton aw25 | remember the future

Like all his previous collections, Pharrell Williams knows how to excite and make fashion fun. For Louis Vuitton‘s Autumn/Winter 2025 show, he teamed up with longtime friend Nigo, gifting us a fashion moment that encompasses the maison’s iconic archive as well as the duo’s shared roots in streetwear. Held at the Louvre’s Cour Carrée, the show was as much about storytelling as it was about style, with Masamichi Katayama’s circular stage design inviting us to orbit their world of cultural intersections and archival treasures.

The collection, aptly titled Remember the Future, embodies a creative dialogue between Pharrell and Nigo’s respective archives. Both steeped in the subcultures they helped define in the early 2000s with Billionaire Boys Club and ICECREAM, the pair reimagines workwear, tailoring, and sportswear through a distinctly Louis Vuitton lens. Think dandyish suiting with a streetwear twist, alongside chef-inspired silhouettes that feel unexpectedly chic.

The Dandy Monogram, with its shippo-inspired weaving, is a subtle yet powerful nod to Nigo’s Tokyo roots. Cherry blossom-infused patterns, sashiko stitching, and boro-inspired tailoring breathe a soulful authenticity into pieces that could easily pass as art installations. Varsity jackets in buttery leathers, adorned with oversized insignias, offer a relaxed confidence, while cropped suits in leather reimagine tailoring for the modern wardrobe.

Of course, no Louis Vuitton show would be complete without the bags. The Damier Phriendship bags, emblazoned with playful silhouettes of Pharrell and Nigo, are a loving nod to their decades-long friendship. Meanwhile, the Speedy bags in buttery calfskin — dyed in yuzu yellow or sakura pink — offer a tactile feast, with versions inspired by Japanese traditions like indigo dyeing and kintsugi pottery. The iconic trunks we’ve all grown to love are transparent this time, filled with fresh flowers by Japanese artist Azuma Makoto.

Footwear and jewellery extend the playful-meets-luxe vibe. The LV ButterSoft sneaker feels like a wearable cloud, while the rockabilly-inspired LV Bubble shoe merges chunky silhouettes with refined leatherwork. On the jewellery front, sailor chains and pearl necklaces adorned with cherry blossoms exude an avant-garde elegance that Pharrell has long championed.

What made this collection feel especially resonant was its unapologetic blend of the past and future. And honestly? That leopard-print coat alone makes this collection a future classic.
