When in Milan, you just gotta start the day with a famous espresso and get used to the multiple “Ciao, Bella” you’ll hear wherever you go. The city’s incredible energy is undeniable, especially during Fashion Week. I kicked off the first day of MFW with the Byblos show. I’d never attended “Burning Man” before but somehow Manuel Facchini managed to make me understand better what I have been seeing in pictures. From his show, I had the wonderful opportunity to witness it all live. His inspiration originates in the vibrant atmosphere of the event and “No Boundaries. No restraints” is the statement in which two apparently different souls melt into the poetry of such bold days. Slim silhouettes change into oversize shapes where drawstrings create rounded volumes to be worn in the different moments of the day. This collection just made me think of booking my next trip to go see for myself what the source of his inspiration was.
Arthur Arbesser
Coming back to Europe, Arthur Arbesser took his inspiration from the perfect geometry and graphic experimentation from Viennese traditions of the early 20th century, which are linked to the personal history of the designer.

Daizy Shely
While Annakiki mixed unconventional silhouettes with contrasting textures and effect materials such as PVC, Anteprima took us on a field of colours, flowers and smiles, urging everyone to be happy. Same goes for Daizy Shely as she proposes a fresh, sexy, ultra-feminine and colourful SS19 Collection where pink, lilac, topaz, aquamarine and sky blue dominate the palette.
Blumarine
Dreamer and romantic Anna Molinari, Blumarine’s designer, showcased some opposite elements that coexist in harmony; for example, spandex leggings in fluorescent colours with logoed elastic under python printed chiffon dresses. These elements certainly gave an eccentric look to the whole collection.
Ermanno Scervino
And then, there was Ermanno Scervino. Ballerina skirts, masculine striped shirts, sheer dresses, sequin sweaters, dark floral prints, black leather lace… Oh, and the addition of men’s outfits to the collection as well. Different worlds, styles and inspirations blended together and co-existed in harmony in Ermanno Scervino’s tailored style.
Italy has its magic, and so did each of the collections I got to see there. The inspiration that stood behind, the combination of fabrics, the vivid colours, the chosen locations… all these elements took me from a story to another and I am glad I could share it with you. Now, lots of that espresso is needed for the eight following days in Paris!
