Dior is pulling back the curtain on an extraordinary chapter of fashion history with a new exhibition at La Galerie Dior, celebrating the work of legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh. From October 17, 2024, until May 4, 2025, this exhibition invites visitors to step into a visual odyssey of Lindbergh’s distinctive imagery, which captured the essence of Dior over three decades.
Lindbergh, who passed away in 2019, was a master of minimalism. His photographs exuded a raw beauty that rejected the typical gloss of fashion, preferring to unveil the authentic power of his subjects – women. In his own words, “My great subject was women. I track down a mystery, I seek an emotion,” and this exhibition brings his sentiment to life, weaving it into the very fabric of Dior’s illustrious couture.
Spanning 100 photographs, this retrospective showcases Lindbergh’s work with Dior models from 1988 to 2018. Each room offers a glimpse into the evolving vision of Dior’s creative directors, from the House’s founder, Christian Dior, to modern-day Maria Grazia Chiuri, via the experimental designs of John Galliano and Raf Simons. It’s a celebration of both the photographer’s distinct artistry and the timeless elegance of Dior.
Among the many highlights, visitors will find something truly special – never-before-seen photographs from a 2018 Dior shoot on the streets of New York. The spontaneity of these images offers a refreshing contrast to haute couture’s usual refinement. Lindbergh’s lens turned the streets into a runway, where Dior’s archival pieces danced with the unpredictability of urban life, creating a modern, emotional tribute to the brand’s legacy.
