In this Schön! editorial, photographer Justin Bettman explores his obsession with the past — a theme prominently featured in many of his tableau scenes, spanning the decades of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. In this particular editorial, Bettman looks back at the late 90s and early aughties through the lens of his childhood and pre-teen memories. In collaboration with stylist Jessie Jamz, Bettman meticulously curates details — from the bold, spiked hair, styled by hair stylist Lindsey Williams and sneakers styled by Jamz to the eclectic collage of posters. “I aim to immerse the viewer in a sensory journey through a past that feels both intimately personal and universally recognizable,” states Bettman. “This series not only revisits my earliest memories but also reflects on how these formative experiences shaped my generation’s identity and creative expression.”
