HOKA just took the classic Mary Jane, threw it into a high-performance blender, and birthed the magnificent Bondi Mary Jane. This is no dainty strap shoe but a defiant hybrid, a “formal sneaker” that reimagines what a buckle silhouette can be in the age of comfort-first style. It made its stealth debut during Tanner Fletcher’s Spring/Summer 2026 show in New York, instantly signalling that the rigid lines between athletic function and elegant polish have officially collapsed.
Though it features the buckle strap that defines the Mary Jane, this shoe is anything but delicate. It is built upon the voluminous Bondi platform – HOKA’s signature billowed midsole – packed with plush cushioning, a sculpted EVA base, and an extra-cushioned heel crash pad. It is, essentially, a cushioned cloud beneath a deceptively structured upper.
The top of the design is remarkably fluid, combining textured mesh and leather elements, accented with sharp metal hardware and HOKA’s innovative lace-toggle system. The genius lies in the three interchangeable lacing options, giving the wearer the power to instantaneously adapt the look and fit, seamlessly transitioning from a relaxed, off-duty aesthetic to a more structured, elevated style.
HOKA describes this creation as “a fluid new expression of the iconic Bondi,” and on the runway, it proved its versatility: styled with gingham dresses, cropped trousers, and tailored separates, it was as adaptable as it was striking. Offered in two initial colourways, an understated All-Black and a lively Cerise/Rose Tea, it makes one point clear: categories no longer hold sway.
By merging the heritage of a dress shoe with the mechanics of a performance runner, the Bondi Mary Jane is proof that HOKA has evolved from outfitting trailblazers to shaping the everyday uniform of modern life.
