Striking and visually stunning – this dynamic shoot by Phine Ka invokes a sinister yet ethereal mood, helped in part by the extravagant pieces provided by the talented design duo Battenberg-Cartwright.
The Netherlands born photographer began with a career in travel photography, however a move to London in 2009 ignited her love for fashion photography and portraiture – a love that is so evident within this editorial.
Speaking of her inspiration behind the shoot she states, “Battenberg-Cartwright’s dramatic, rich garments made of recycled and found materials inspired me immediately; the shape, colours, textures with rich ornaments and details are for me, something that should be worn by modern fairy tale queens and other heroines. Strong women who are like goddesses, they can be on your side, or not … you can’t really know.”
Model, Echo Nittolitto, embodies this perfectly. Posing in strong dynamic shapes, while her amazing tattoos complement the designs within the shoot, she adds a sense of strength amongst the femininity of the clothing.
Fantasy cloaked in an air of real-world awareness, creating a divine shoot indeed.
