Blinded by the glitz and excess of Las Vegas, Drôle de Monsieur brings the desert mirage of the city to life in its Autumn/Winter 2026 collection. Aptly titled ‘Sin City,’ creative directors Dany Dos Santos and Maxime Schwab draw inspiration from the gangster opulence so often glamorised by Hollywood. With this central theme, the design duo cite the Flamingo, Caesar’s Palace, and even Martin Scorsese’s Casino as key points of reference.
In the show notes, they mention the opening of the Flamingo – a casino hotel on the Las Vegas Strip – in 1946, and how “the city transformed into a glittering set where luxury, glamour and power shaped a singular, dramatic world, immortalized by cinema and its iconic high-society figures.” This idea materialises as more than just the two giant flamingoes flanking the runway backdrop; it’s evident in the vintage-inspired prints (think plaid on plaid, stripes on stripes, floral motifs, and wood-inspired patterns), excessive layering, and gold jewellery. It’s not quiet, but it’s not chaotic either. Somehow, burnt oranges, bright reds, cognacs, deep blues, and vibrant greens balance one another out.
When it comes to silhouettes, it’s Casino – the 1995 crime thriller – that most directly influences the collection, bringing the Drôle de Monsieur world into crisp focus. Suiting is razor-sharp, coats are oversized and belted, wide-leg trousers are neatly pleated, and bomber jackets are cut to flatter – not cropped, yet not too long. Beyond evoking the spirit of Sin City, the collection feels thoughtful and precise in its design. The Drôle de Monsieur model knows their body, and exactly how it should be adorned.
Caesar’s Palace marks a shift in the collection’s energy. The casino, much like the collection itself, welcomes a cast of characters: boxers, showgirls, show-offs, mobsters, entertainers, rappers, gamblers, and billionaires. It’s an eclectic mix that, while vastly different, works effortlessly together. These characters heighten the spectacle of the collection, where oversized coats and metal-ornamented canes are juxtaposed with striped sports jerseys and matching satin sets.
Vegas is more than a clash of characters; it’s the epitome of the American Dream – and that’s precisely what Santos and Schwab have captured. It’s cinematic elegance and glamorous entertainment. Las Vegas is, after all, a show.
