chloé fineman x mother | the 60s-inspired capsule collection

Chloe Fineman has officially solved her biggest “side hustle.” For years, the SNL comedian and actress searched for the perfect pair of vintage jeans, and now she’s made them herself. She’s teamed up with L.A.-based denim brand MOTHER and her sister, artist Emma Fineman, for a retro-inspired capsule collection that’s a love letter to the 1960s.

“I’m thrilled we solved that problem with a curated collection inspired by our favourite vintage finds over the years (aka things I steal from her closet),” Chloe says. “It’s been a dream collab and I can’t wait to have more people asking me, ‘Hey, can I borrow that?’”

The 15-piece collection is packed with a genuine sense of storytelling. The Fineman sisters pulled inspiration from icons of the era, from Marilyn Monroe in vintage Levi’s to Bridget Bardot in tight-fitting cigarette pants and Jacqueline Kennedy in her signature matching sets. The capsule features classic blue jeans, A-line skirts, and bold shades of poppy and larkspur. But it’s the details that make the collection truly personal. The style names are a cheeky nod to 1960s jet-set culture, while a ringer tee features Emma’s hand-drawn graphics.

“Vintage with a twist” was the vision, according to Tim Kaeding, MOTHER’s co-founder and creative director. He explains that this meant taking a vintage style and “making it even better from a fit and fabric perspective,” while integrating pops of fun in the details. “Our collaborations are always done through the lens of our partner, so it’s always personal and unique,” he explains. “We wanted Chloe and Emma’s vision to truly shine through, from the overall concept to the product details and packaging.”

Famous for its irreverent style, super-soft fabrics, and a model cult following, MOTHER is a made-in-L.A. brand that has managed to keep an indie spirit while still offering fits and washes that appeal to a wide range of people. The brand, which releases four collections a year, evokes the memories of growing up in California in the 70s – what you were wearing, what you were doing, and who you were getting into trouble with. It’s a brand that reflects the freedom to be unfiltered, brazen, and, above all, amusing.

Likewise, the collaboration feels extremely personal, like a wearable diary. It’s an intimate look into the sisters’ lives, from the campaign’s visuals to the heartfelt details woven into each piece. A label that reads ‘Can I borrow that?’ is a playful nod to Chloe’s habit of “borrowing” her sister’s clothes. A California poppy print is stitched in as a tribute to their home state. And in the ultimate show of family and heart, a percentage of sales will be donated to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, a cause close to the sisters’ hearts, as their cousin is a firefighter.

“Donating a percentage of the sales to the Foundation felt like the right way to honour their family, support the firefighters who protect our community, and give back to the city that built MOTHER,” Kaeding says.
