Last week, at the height of summer, Stockholm-based underwear company CDLP, founded by Christian Larson and Andreas Palm, launched its debut swimwear collection. The 3-piece capsule, inspired by the Balearic coastline, features swim shorts and pool shorts in army green and black nylon, as well as a limited selection of only 50 pieces in lavish black velvet. “After such strong response on men’s premium underwear and socks, swimwear is a natural and much-requested extension,” Larson himself explains.
The campaign for the collection was shot on the rocky shores of the Spanish island of Ibiza by co-founder and filmmaker Christian Larson, and it stars extreme sports and travel aficionado Jay Alvarrez, who personifies CDLP‘s “endless summertime” spirit. Summery, raw, unfiltered and beautifully uncomplicated: this is what CDLP’s swimwear epitomises. Adding another layer to its “intellectual masculinity” philosophy, the brand refines the classic swim short in its inaugural collection.
As a brand, CDLP boasts notable past collaborations with Swedish filmmakers Johan Renck and Jonas Åkerlund, as well as François-Xavier Dussol, of Rio de Janeiro’s La Suite hotel. With the launch of its swimwear campaign, the company continues to cultivate its identity of tailoring and fine-design for the refined gentleman – something it’ll perpetuate with the release of a collaboration with Tom of Finland this September.
