Designers took Paris Fashion Week (PFW) by storm, presenting collections that encompass the spirit of summer, combine French style with the brand’s heritage, and promote timelessness. Maria Biardzka took her camera backstage to photograph the collections in a new light, exclusively for Schön!.
Dawei Studio brings back the romanticism of the 1940s and 1950s with its SS24 collection. Pleated garments resembling an organ are featured in a soft pink that slowly transitions into blues and greens. Paired with these styles is a more sophisticated silhouette inspired by the 80s, as well as bell sleeves, cinched waists, and elegant draping.
The Miaou girl is constantly on the move, dressed in low-rise skirts with logo waistbands peeking out the top and sports jersey-inspired tops. The ‘GO!’ collection combines breezy French styles with American sportswear and collegiate looks. The brand’s signature corsets and barely-there designs are revamped in varsity red, green with yellow stripes, and black leather.
Unveiling her first collection since relocating to Paris, Di Du of her namesake brand, DIDU, showed ‘The Age of Love’. The collection, showing the transition from anger to acceptance when it comes to the state of the world, reveals European ballet attire effortlessly fused with Chinese qipao. Sheer fabrics drape the body and destroyed knitwear hangs delicately from the female frame.
The summer heat of the Côte d’Azur serves as the theme for Leonard Paris’ SS24 collection titled ‘La Villa’. Picturing the sun transitioning from morning rays, to powerful midday heat, to evening golden hues, creative director Georg Lux created timeless pieces with stunning draping and the house’s signature floral prints.
Delving into the idea of time has always been at the forefront of RUOHAN, including their latest collection, ‘Measuring Infinity’. With their third collection at PFW, the brand is transforming lines with long silhouettes, draping, and detailing. The lines, representative of gravity, integrity, and strength, are both visually appealing and demand further thought.
Elie Saab once again blesses PFW with his newest collection, ‘Moonlight Shadow’. Although taking inspiration from the moon and the night sky, the collection features a Mediteranean-esque colour palette alongside exquisite summer dresses. Saab reasons that the turquoise, sunshine yellow, tangerine, and bright pinks featured in the collection transition easily from day to night – and liven up the evening.
