Picture this: you’re at the centre of a persistent blizzard. It’s solitary, harsh, and cold, yet within the stark white surroundings, you feel an unexpected sense of serenity and calm. That feeling is exactly what Creative Director Achilles Ion Gabriel set out to recreate for CamperLab’s Autumn/Winter 2026 show. Drawing on childhood memories of polar winters in Lapland, the Maison de la Mutualité – the Art Deco theatre in Paris’s 5th arrondissement – was transformed by a central column of white curtains, evoking ice and snow. The world-building was completed by sound: Pandora’s Jukebox composed an immersive soundscape that transported attendees from the moment they entered.
Placed within this harsh environment are twenty characters, a cast made up of models, talents, and street-cast individuals. Their hair appears ever so slightly windswept as they trudge through the imagined storm. Some are dressed for survival, others look as though they might freeze half to death (but at least they do so chicly). Still, their clothing tells a story. It’s easy to picture some gathering wood for a fire, while others are equipped for an overnight walk in sub-zero temperatures.
The looks themselves flit between oversized and shrunken. Cropped bomber jackets are heavily padded, parkas resemble duvets wrapped around the body, and denim scrunches at the ankles. Meanwhile, tanks are subtly cropped, and denim shirts cling like a second skin. Weathered white ostrich-embossed leathers and waxed cottons are layered with long-pile wools and printed denim, creating rich visual depth. Binding the collection together are its destroyed finishes and washes – raw hems, worn-down colours, and soiled effects. It never looks dirty, though. Instead, these treatments ground the story, allowing you to envision the garments in the northernmost reaches of Finland while you’re sitting in a Parisian theatre.
Accessories are where the collection truly comes into focus. The Terroso boots are weather-appropriate, while the Escandalo heeled loafers and boots feel more playful and fashion-forward with their various embellishments. The Canicula leather sneakers sit at the intersection of both worlds, constructed on 3D-printed outsoles. CamperLab’s signature leather Laukku and Lunssi bags reappear on the runway, this season in a downsized silhouette that gives the design new life.
A haunting performance by Annahstasia (Enuke) closed the show, bringing an intentional, immersive, and quietly experimental presentation to a resonant end.
