Life in London is looking bright for Louis Hofmann. He moved less than a year ago but seems to have picked up the lightness and sense of humour Brits are known for – a far cry from his previous characters, which have been much more quiet, sensitive and introverted. On set for his Schön! 45 photoshoot where he’s adorned in Cartier, the fisheye camera captures the German actor while dancing to the rhythm of Kevin Morby’s songs.
Hofmann will soon be starring in All the Light We Cannot See, the Netflix series based on the Pulitzer-winning novel by Anthony Doerr. It portrays the story of a blind French girl and a German soldier, played by Hoffman, whose paths cross through secret radio communication during the Second World War. “All the Light We Cannot See is about goodness, love, hope and innocence – all of which are things you can’t see,” Hofmann explains. “It’s just wonderfully told!”
With his flawless British accent, Hoffman seems like any other Londoner, spending his free time wandering around flea markets and vintage stores. “Especially when you move to another country, you are way more open to anything you see,” he explains. “So, I have been heavily influenced by what people wear in the street.” For our interview, he wears a white t-shirt styled with a single earring, necklace and different rings, while on set it was all Cartier jewels. “I enjoy wearing jewellery! I think it makes the outfit a bit more special. I always wear the same rings every single day. I’m not that kind of person who has a million rings and switches them out,” he states.
All the Light We Cannot See is out on Netflix on the 2nd of November.
