I was looking over the pristine, snow-covered Alps in Lech am Arlberg. It was at that moment – struck by a sense of calm and reflection – that the idea for Schön! alive came to me. I wanted to create a magazine that moves beyond the surface, that goes deeper into the minds, stories and insights of the individuals who are shaping how we live and connect with the world.
For years, Schön! has celebrated images – the artistry of fashion, the drama of style. With Schön! alive, my team and I invite you on a journey beyond the visible, exploring the stories, philosophies and creative souls shaping the way we live, think and feel.
This first issue focuses on mindfulness – an exploration of how intentionality can transform our everyday reality. On the Croatian island of Hvar, we visit the Maslina Resort near the 2,400-year-old town of Stari Grad which epitomises the philosophy of ‘mindful luxury’. In Tuscany, the serene Castelfalfi Resort offers a unique escape where guests can connect with nature and history. In Bonaire, photographer Stephanie Pistel captures the unspoilt magic of the Caribbean Island. Adventure lovers will find inspiration in the story of BMW Motorrad riders who embarked on an epic 40-day motorcycle journey from Europe to Namibia. We also meet visionary Banu Akan, whose Maxx Royal Resorts redefine luxury and relaxation.
Lighting plays a pivotal role in shaping how we experience the world. Helen Neumann, Chief Lighting Designer at Occhio, offers insights into how lighting affects our well-being, complemented by a feature showcasing furniture illuminated by Occhio’s designs. Sound, too, shapes our lives in profound ways. In an inspiring interview with Steph Carter, Director of Culture Marketing at Marshall, we explore how sound serves as a powerful force in our lives.
We journey into vastly different spheres when it comes to taste, from a whirlwind 72-hour tour of Oslo to the wisdom of culinary legend Raymond Blanc OBE. Michelin-starred chef Hélène Darroze discusses how creating emotions, rather than chasing stars, lies at the heart of her restaurants, while Scottish chefs are rewriting the story of British cuisine, proving that innovation and heritage can coexist beautifully.
As with Schön!, creativity is dear to us. There’s an intimate look into the world of scent with Frédéric Malle, an exploration of champagne’s evolution with Ruinart’s Chef de Caves, Frédéric Panaïotis, and Philippe Starck’s avant-garde olive mill, where art, history and gastronomy merge seamlessly. We meet four artists, suggested by Fabien Vallérian, International Director of Arts & Culture at Maison Ruinart, who celebrate natural elements through their work, while advocating for sustainability.
As you turn these pages, I hope you’ll feel inspired to pause, reflect and explore the stories that make life richer – just as I was in the Alps – because life isn’t just about what we see: it’s about what we feel and how we connect.
Welcome to this exciting new chapter. Welcome to Schön! alive.

Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Change often begins in art. – Ursula K. Le Guinn
Schön! 47 is a celebration of art, one of — if not the — most beautiful aspects of our lives. We can find connection and community through art, finding a capacity to connect to others through creativity. It’s what allows us to find common humanity, a unifying force to reinvent the world we live in. Art, whether it be visual, sculptural, conceptual, sound, written or performance, is where we come together. It’s why Schön! 47, aptly titled All About Art, honours art in its many ever-changing forms.
Looking to the young generation who is shaping art today, we begin our journey with Parisian-based visual artist Jan Melka who believes “There are no rules to art.” In a special CHANEL editorial by Jorre Janssens, Melka shares how art gives all of us the tools to “express feelings and ideas in an indirect way; with messages, metaphors and seemingly unfinished compositions.”
Art is also how we move, so we discuss how Carl Giacomello Scharnberg, dancer extraordinaire, brings movement and energy to every step he makes. Moving swiftly into another form of art, the music and sounds we listen to, we chat with singer-songwriter-rapper Rema, who’s making waves with his unique sound, and singer Kid Bookie, who is continuously pushing the boundaries in his own respective genres as he immerses himself in the sonic experience with Marshall Monitor III A.N.C headphones.
Turning to the screen, we speak with Irish actor, activist, LOEWE muse and breakout star of Saltburn Alison Oliver to discuss her latest project The Order. Meanwhile, French actor Pierre Niney is fresh off the success of The Count of Monte Cristo, shining in Lacoste as he shares with us the intricacies of his craft, and rising actor Josh Heuston reminds us that all origin stories matter — especially in art — with the release of Dune: Prophecy.
Unpacking the darker side of art is actor Gavin Leatherwood who chats about his psychological film It’s What’s Inside and the potential dangers of social media, while Nicholas Alexander Chavez gives us the inside scoop on making the second season of Netflix’s anthology series Monsters and his latest project Grotesquerie. Turning to brighter art forms, actress Yasmin Finney shares how she’s evolved since she first took on her role in Heartstopper and what is to come in the upcoming season.
Since art does come in many forms, Jordan Rondel (aka The Caker) who uses cake as her medium tells us how she put the cool back into baking. Finally, Canadian author, poet and illustrator Rupi Kaur glimmers in Pandora as she talks to us a decade on from her seminal work Milk and Honey.
It’s a journey, to discover yourself, and others. Art can help us in that process, to be a bigger and better version of ourselves.
Schön! 47 is here to celebrate those helping us make that change.

Challenges are what make life interesting, and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. – Joshua Marine
What does it mean to be powerful? To be strong?
When we considered these questions in preparation for this issue, we quickly realised something vital. Though it may initially seem like it, these words are not merely physical attributes. Rather, they’re something deeper – symbolic embodiments of resilience, determination, and the endless possibility of human potential.
With this realisation as our rallying cry, we sought to redefine these terms in the modern consciousness, elevating the stories of those who displayed feats of incredible emotional and physical strength while highlighting those who showcased their own power in any way they could.
All of this brought us to today, where we are proud to present Schön! 46: All About Power + Strength.
This energetic issue of Schön! explores the captivating intersection of power and strength in all its forms. From the commanding rhythms of a musician to the contagious energy of a big game win, to the emotional weight of an actor’s performance, we uncover the essence of what it means to harness one’s inner strength and command the power to move hearts and minds.
Every good workout needs a warm-up – and there’s no better group with whom to do that than our eclectic mix of incredible athletes. We’re met by our cover star: the incomparable Jilou, who wears Nike as she details how the craft of breaking gives her confidence. After starting breaking at the age of 13, Jilou has found that it’s motion that has given her liberation. Following years of movement-driven pursuits, like aerial acrobatics and gymnastics, it was the art of dance — specifically breaking — that spoke to both her body and soul. Now, the medal-winning B-Girl opens up about the freedom and opportunity that breaking has gifted her, and how she hopes the sport can inspire others to break barriers too.
We hit the streets with Nyjah Huston, who wears Louis Vuitton as he takes us across ramps and rails to share how he’s bringing skateboarding to the world. Still on four wheels, we join longboard legend Marina Correia, wearing pieces from Pandora, to bomb some hills and learn of her path from Cape Verde to France and, eventually, the Olympics. Speaking of four wheels, from here we head to the racetracks to witness the incalculable quickness of Laura-Marie Geissler and hear her explain how utilising Web 3.0 led to her empowerment on the track.
Taking a pit stop, we speak with Paralympian Ezra Frech, who jumps high as he talks Paris 2024, destigmatising disability and his mission to provide adaptable sports experiences for those with disabilities. After all that heat, we need a bit of a cooldown; luckily, Mason Hyce Barnes is here to welcome us into the open ocean and share all things surfing, wearing big-wave-ready fashion and eyewear styles from Tommy Hilfiger.
We then turn to those who are bringing power to the screen. German actor Aaron Altaras details how his history connects him to his character in the new series The Zweiflers. Jacob Batalon brings his own strength to other worlds for the second season of his show Reginald the Vampire and the upcoming supernatural horror film Tarot. Juno Temple shares how she discovered a latent athleticism while shooting the most recent season of the critically acclaimed Fargo.
While we’re in high gear, Dafne Keen wears AGL as she reintroduces us to a galaxy far, far away, regaling us with stories of sabre-training and how she landed a starring role in the new Disney+ series Star Wars: The Acolyte. Teresa Palmer explains how she surmounted the pressure of Hollywood to embrace who she is, leading to her acting alongside Ryan Gosling in the upcoming The Fall Guy.
In pieces from Cartier, Hannah Herzsprung spills the details about her film 15 Years. This epic race continues with the trailblazers, those who are crafting their own path across media. Multi-hyphenate talent Sofie Royer, wearing CHANEL, relates how overcoming trauma put her in a league of her own. Manuela Mulliez recounts her gender affirmation and how she’s emancipating herself in every way she can.
Rapper Flo Milli beats out the competition as she examines her rise to fame and the ‘superpower’ that is womanhood. As we take part in this fantastic display, several impressive partners join us to show off their skills. 080 Barcelona Fashion brings us to the gym for some good, high-fashioned exercise. Christian Louboutin captures our spirit of exploration in an energy-filled journey through Paris. Finally, H&M lets the sea air wash over us as we bask in the beauty of its new Studio Resort Capsule.
Victory is not a singular event. It is a conclusion come to through defeat, adversity, resilience and redemption. Even in loss, one moves forward – and with Schön! 46, we hope to propel you into the future by reminding you just how special, just how extraordinary, and just how indomitable the human spirit can be.
Your potential is limitless; now, it’s your time to use it.
