With an almost innate appreciation of art and culture, London born and Bologna based artist, Magnus Gjoen, sets out to challenge our common perception of beauty, through his subjugation of abstract objects and historical art references. Callan Reilly discovers how – determined to find beauty in the ugliest of places – Gjoen selects pieces and prints which intrigue and entice him the most. Not only meticulous in his research and dedication to the integrity of his designs, Gjoen, also recognises the need to please the consumer, seeing art as a form of business as well as expression.
