Christian Louboutin just handed the keys to the maison’s menswear universe to Jaden Smith. Actor, musician, designer, and activist, Smith now takes on the role of the Maison’s first-ever Men’s Creative Director, steering four collections a year and reimagining not only the shoes and leather goods, but also the energy of campaigns, events, and the world that surrounds them.
The pairing isn’t random. Louboutin and Smith first crossed paths in 2019, sparking a creative conversation that never really stopped. For the designer, Smith’s curiosity and inventiveness made him an obvious match. For Smith, Louboutin’s insistence on creative freedom meant the Maison could become a genuine playground.
If anyone was going to shake up Louboutin’s men’s line, it’s Smith. He’s spent years bending dress codes, pairing skirts with blazers on red carpets, championing his label MSFTSrep, and weaving activism into his fashion. Back in 2016, he fronted a Louis Vuitton womenswear campaign, further blurring boundaries and positioning himself as a Gen Z tastemaker unafraid of rewriting the rules. He doesn’t do ‘expected.’ And that’s precisely what the Maison wants.
“When I first met Jaden, I saw in him a natural fit for the Maison. His world is rich and multidimensional, his style and cultural sensibility are inspiring, and his curiosity and openness are remarkable,” says Christian Louboutin. “I felt that with his creative direction, our men’s collection would evolve in an exciting and dynamic way. He feels like the perfect addition to our creative team, and I am truly looking forward to having fun working with him on our men’s collections.”
Smith calls it “a creative home,” one where he can fold his eclectic vision into the maison’s DNA: “I want to continue the story, honouring the past while shaping the future through my own perspective. Christian has given me a place to explore, to learn, and to create freely. His legacy is built on hard work and joy, and I want to carry that forward.”
Louboutin’s men’s line launched quietly over 15 years ago and now accounts for nearly a quarter of the Maison’s business. With Smith at the helm, the men’s side is set to expand with a fresher, sharper lens. His avant-première capsule drops on 20 January 2026 in select boutiques and online, with his first full collection debuting at Paris Fashion Week for Men’s Autumn/Winter 2026.
This appointment is a further signal that luxury menswear is evolving, with houses betting on culture-shaping voices rather than traditional appointments. Smith brings all of it: music, film, activism, and a fashion sensibility that treats clothes as a visual manifesto. So what’s next? If Smith’s track record is anything to go by, expect something between a style revolution and a cultural detonation. Red soles, but make them Smith’s world.
