Havaianas have teamed up with twelve of the industry’s most influential creatives to hold an auction in aid of Women for Women International, in order to raise money and awareness for the charity and the needs of vulnerable women. With Maria Kastani drafted in as the curator, the industry creatives were set a brief to design their take on the traditional Havaiana flip-flop – the art pieces have resulted in some beautiful, bespoke and definitely theatrical pieces. The line up, consisting of Aquazzura, Alice Temperley, Schön! 18 cover star Naomi Campbell, Charlotte Olympia, Swarovski, DSquared2, to name a few, has shown the diversity of the creative minds. Mary Katrantzou opted for maximum colour in her Swarovski-studded flatform, whilst Nicholas Kirkwood designed a more simple, marble shoe but all of which are sewn together with the aim of expressing their individuality and each designer’s own take on women’s global identity.
All money raised from the auction will go towards the humanitarian organisation Women for Women International that supports women by offering emotional counselling, the development of invaluable skills and financial aid for women who have experienced the devastation of war. Somerset House is playing host to the auction, which has been ongoing since July 1st and is soon drawing to a close – you have four days left, so be sure to place a bid before you luck out on these bespoke art works. This collective collaboration means that the eccentric and conceptual art pieces will help raise money to support women living marginalised lives.
