We first spotted the Peekaboo’s new act in September at Silvia Venturini Fendi’s Spring Summer 2026 show in Milan, where models paraded with their bags left ajar, interiors spilling colour and surprise into the pixelated, organza-strewn choreography.
The Peekaboo has always been a little private, a wink wrapped in leather since its debut a shade over a decade ago. Designed by Venturini Fendi and first seen on the runway in 2008 before arriving in boutiques the following season, it made its legacy by offering a fun secret (it is named after a children’s game, after all). This season, however, that secret is finally being let out.
What’s new is how proudly Fendi has handed the interior the starring role. Clean, composed exteriors fold open to reveal dense, jewel-like linings: paillettes, beads, studs and crystals worked into mosaics so ornate they read like micro-installations. Some pieces take upwards of 40 hours of handwork, and the most lavish embroidered mink Peekaboo can demand more than 200 hours of labour.

The colour play is deliciously theatrical. Shimmering purple paillettes hug the inside of a mahogany exterior, while asymmetrical turquoise and elongated green sequins reflect the light in motion. In another version, three-dimensional flower studs make the lining read like a sunlit mosaic, while crystal floral motifs turn the inside of a bag into a secret brooch.
By playing the sleekness of the leather or bristled fur against these chaotic, glittering inner worlds, Fendi has turned the bag into a miniature reveal party. It feels perfectly of the moment, encapsulating a mix of old-school workmanship and a very modern, inside-out sense of spectacle.

The Fendi SS26 Peekaboo collection is available for pre-order now and lands in boutiques on February 5th.
