YIQING YIN
At the ripe young age of 27, fashion couturier Yiqing Yin has taken the world by storm. Very quickly, the French designer of Chinese descent has proven to be a force to be reckoned with as she already has seven haute couture collections, two of her own ready-to-wear collections, and one Leonard collection under her belt. Now, Yin takes a stab at resort wear with hopes of targeting a different, yet altogether affluent, market.
The refined draping and handcrafted ruching still forms the base of this casual resort collection as Yin draws the comfort out of couture. The material of garments is truly intricate, with delicate details interwoven in and out of each piece. The designer touches on summer with a combination of pleated, transparent skirts in shades of sand, turquoise, and a surprisingly sunny yellow. Yin juxtaposes complexity and simplicity by pairing a slightly destroyed ruffled tank with a sleek mustard skirt. Plunging V-necks mixed with classic violet plaid make Yin’s resort woman uninhibited in her fashion choices.
We still see Yin’s DNA in in the dresses of the collection. Two floor-sweeping gowns are intricate in design, but soft and fluid on the skin. Likewise, the patterns on other dresses are as smooth as vapour.
For her first resort collection, Yin has married her couture and ready-to-wear expertise in a series of wearable pieces fit for a sophisticated getaway. She dresses the active, free woman who strives for comfort and class in all circumstances.
