After a decade, Charlie Heaton is saying goodbye to the global sensation that is ‘Stranger Things’. Heaton has one foot in the imaginary Hawkins, Indiana, and the other in the real Newfoundland, Canada. When we speak with him for his Schön! 49 digital cover story, he’s in the middle of filming an untitled limited series for Netflix, the same streaming platform that became the catalyst for his success through ‘Stranger Things’.
“The show has been my school,” Heaton explains after a late-night shoot. “It’s been my training as an actor, or a big part of that. I’d done a few films [before starting ‘Stranger Things’], but at that point I was still very green. It was scary coming onto that show. I think when you’re starting, you obviously want to do a good job and really serve the material. When you read a script you really like, there’s that fear – that desire to [do] it justice.”
