Beauty Amidst Chaos is a fashion film about finding joy in makeup as a sweet delusion and a playful escape during tough times. In this short fashion film, Aleksandra Kingo would like to explore the juxtaposition between our generation’s unease about their uncertain future and the sweet, but delusional escape found in the vibrant world of makeup. Amidst their anxieties about a shifting world, our characters turn to the therapeutic joys of cosmetics – a vivid rebellion, a colourful swipe of dopamine, a playful reprieve. Through punchy vibrant visuals, candid confessions and dynamic movement, the film showcases makeup not just as an accessory but as a playful escape from life’s larger questions. Set in a clean white studio it is a playful edit of closeups and portraits of a diverse range of young people rocking their makeup looks while candidly confessing their hopes and fears of all sizes.

The idea is to maintain a touch of sarcasm and exaggeration throughout – because we all know that a swipe of lipstick will not solve all of our problems. Yet, in its own sweet way, it offers us transient relief and a touch of joy in the present moment.
