Five boys from Germany have been taking over the world. Bene Schulz, Luis Freitag, Jacob Rott, Julien Braun and Tim Schäcker — collectively known as Elevator Boys — gained overnight fame for their humorous and entertaining elevator TikToks and “POV” content on social media. After moving in together in 2021, the boys found a feverish following due to their hilarious videos and, more recently, their own music. The release of their debut single “Runaway” saw them achieve their greatest goal yet after they performed to a crowd of 80,000 at Wembley Stadium. Now, chatting with Schön! for their Schön! 45 digital cover story, their hair is oh-so-perfectly quiffed, styled in got2b and wearing Valentino, as they explain how they came together as a group.
“Singing or being musical has always been part of our TikToks,” Braun explains. All of the boys have music in their blood, all stemming from musical-infused backgrounds. After a spontaneous and spur-of-the-moment studio session in LA a year ago, they enjoyed it so much that they instantly decided to give it a go professionally. But despite growing on TikTok, the app is not their main focus — opting to create a legacy (and discography to match). Music has their full attention and dedication, which is why Schäcker tells us that the amount of TikToks may be reduced for a while.
Above all, what matters to the Elevator Boys is that they’ve been able to turn what they love — creating — into their work, as seen in the work the group did with got2b creators challenge – where all five members staged their favourite got2b product according to a popular social media trend, or entering “a new arena”, as Schulz describes their foray into music.
In this spirit, all their recent energy has been put into producing their first two singles. According to the group, the most important aspect was getting to learn more about the art behind creating music, inspiring them to dive deep into all aspects of music, while taking vocal lessons to ensure a certain level of professionalism. Everything is produced independently and, so far, all of them have been involved in every angle of the creative process. In total, there are 30 new songs that the group says have potential – and they can’t wait for audiences to hear them.
