Nothing signals the beginning of Paris Fashion Week quite like a spectacular Louis Vuitton Men’s show – even more so if it’s Pharell Williams at the helm. The runway unfolded as a tapestry of Western mystique fused with an Americana atmosphere that transported us far from the Jardin D’Acclimatation where the show took place. Pharell Williams’ creative prowess took centre stage for this third collection, introducing a heat-moulded handle bag that resonated as a testament to his visionary touch. The runway also hosted the Native Voices of Resistance, a powwow group donning garments adorned with modern-day winter count motifs, weaving a visual narrative of collaboration: an undeniable refreshing and engaged touch in the fashion landscape.
The Steamer, making a triumphant return in various sizes, became a canvas for Damier-infused Buffalo Check, and textures were seemingly weathered by the prairie sun – from Aged Monogram Canvas to faded Denim Damier. The Damoflage pattern evolved in vibrant orange and eclipse nuances, accompanied by the intriguing Cowmooflage Canvas.
Footwear became a narrative of rugged elegance, inspired by the work boots of the American West. Crafted in Texas, the LV Texan, a genuine cowboy boot, stole the spotlight with its goodyear construction and captivating decorations. The LV Rodeo cowboy shoe emerged as a harnessed lace-up and a cowboy-belt buckled monk shoe, embodying the untamed spirit of the wild west.
Accessories became a celebration of heritage and craftsmanship, from Parfleche blankets and Dakota Flower scarves crafted in collaboration with Dakota and Lakota artisans to cowboy hats, leather caps, and gloves adorned with Western motifs. Special editions featured hand-painted silver Monogram crocodile and ostrich Monogram bags. Chromotherapy took center stage with the Millionaires sunglasses, featuring therapeutic color-tinted lenses and limited-edition Diamond versions set with genuine diamonds.
As models strode to an eclectic soundtrack, including original pieces by Pharrell Williams and collaborations with Mumford & Sons and Miley Cyrus, the Louis Vuitton Fall-Winter 2024 Men’s Collection transcended fashion, offering a captivating journey through time and culture.
