hoka | mach x caged

HOKA’s latest drop, the Mach X Caged, brings an experimental edge to performance running. It’s an unapologetically modern take on a marathon shoe that carries the same high-spec build as the Mach X 2 – superfoam cushioning, a Pebax® propulsion plate, and MetaRocker geometry. But this version is wrapped in something far bolder.

As part of the long-running Mach series, known for its balance between racing technology and everyday mileage, the X Caged takes the formula into more radical territory. A moulded TPU cage runs across the upper, its sculptural form layered over transparent mesh underlays that feel closer to architecture than sportswear. Every detail has been exaggerated: the flow moulding, the textured ridges, the sense that this shoe is designed to stand out before it even hits the pavement.

Performance hasn’t been spared in the process. The tooling is lifted straight from the French brand’s elite runner, making this a perfect and stylish combination of energy return and precision. Available in “Moss Green” and “All-Black”, the Mach X Caged lands at £170.
