Mode Suisse have made it their legacy to support and attract an international spotlight to Swiss design. Each year the platform showcases the most promising designers Switzerland has to offer. Now in its 11th edition, the lucky designers selected to walk its show are growing in notoriety. Hand-picked by an international panel of judges, Schön! went to Zürich to see which names made the cut.
The runway saw a diversity of Swiss talent from alumni of Geneva’s University of Art and Design to veteran designer, Julian Zigerli, whose label has been a Swiss staple for seven years and has previously received an invitation to present in Milan from Giorgio Armani. HEAD Genève graduates Jérémy Gaillard, Flore Girard de Langlade, Vanessa Schindler wowed with exquisite oversized fur in a monochrome colour palette whilst Zigerli presented looks that emanated cosy masculinity.
Other Mode Suisse standouts include Julia Seemann who is no stranger to international attention. She was selected by V Files to present her collection at New York Fashion Week. Shortly after Rihanna was spotted front row at Kanye’s fashion show wearing one of her pieces. Seemann’s current collection features ’60s inspired pops of primary colour and boxy lines.
Designer Lida Noba’s collection is all about the details. With Iranian roots, her refreshing depiction of modesty was vibrant in layering and diverse fabrics choices, whilst Adrian Rebe presented warm jewel tones and elongated lines.
Refined yet bold, Mode Suisse has produced yet another year of Swiss designers we’ll be keeping an eye out for.
