The eyes of the world are on Paris this summer as the world’s most visited city hosts the 2024 Olympic Games. Located in the 7th arrondissement, Juliana Hotel Paris is right in the beating heart of what makes the French capital so iconic. It’s a short 10-minute stroll from the Eiffel Tower and when you take a seat on the rooftop terrace for breakfast, you’re greeted by the landmark peaking above the cityscape. As with any getaway, location is important, especially in a city like Paris known for its bustling traffic. Juliana Hotel is just minutes from the metro and bus stops (although good luck getting a bus during the Olympics thanks to traffic disruptions). It’s a short trip from Gare du Nord and both Paris airports. Must-see Parisien gems like Musée d’Orsay are close by and Pont de l’Alma is just a corner away where you’ll find tourists taking selfies by the river Seine.
Opened in 2015 by Eric Cléton, the five-star Juliana Hotel is named after his children Anna and Julien. Cléton has a clear appreciation for art with sculptures and paintings, including some from Cléton’s personal collection, displayed on the walls and in the corridors. When you enter the art deco style building, you’re greeted by a grand entrance with a majestic staircase and glimmering chandelier. The lobby sparkles with luminescent dark luxe textures and features a bar. Unfortunately, and likely due to arrival time, we were not offered a rundown of the hotel’s amenities which include a gym room, sauna and Italian mosaic hammam.
The hotel’s rooftop is breezy and well-curated with the perfect blend of warm wood and colorful modern art. When it comes to breakfast options, the menu is classic french with freshly baked breads, eggs, jams, yoghurt and coffee. Everything was simple but of quality. After a day of exploring the city of love, you’ll return to a pleasantly large room, and if you’re lucky, it’ll face the exterior towards the Eiffel Tower. The colour palette is dark and moody while the spacious bathrooms feature both a tub and a shower. Although it did very much feel like a hotel room rather than homely or escapist, Juliana Hotel is a great base for a Parisien getaway thanks to the beauty of the surrounding area and its shining gem of a rooftop terrace.
