mcqueen reverb | listening sessions in london

This June, Alexander McQueen turned up the volume at its Old Bond Street flagship with the launch of McQueen Reverb — an intimate series of live listening sessions curated by Creative Director Seán McGirr. Celebrating the house’s long-standing connection to music, subculture and the arts, the event brought together musicians, curators and cultural voices for four exclusive nights of conversation, creativity and vinyl.

Held inside McQueen’s London space at 27 Old Bond Street, Reverb wasn’t your typical launch party. Instead, it was a stripped-back experience where artists explore their personal relationships with sound. Each evening paired a featured musician with a curator, creating space for deep-dive conversations, sonic storytelling, and selections from the guests’ own record collections — all played through a custom high-fidelity system by audio expert Chris Tindall.

Opening the series on 10 June, cult London trio Bar Italia sat down with Paris-based curator Cyrus Goberville, head of cultural programming at the Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection. Known for their introspective sound and underground appeal, the band reflected on their prolific 2023 and the moody influences behind their albums “Tracey Denim” and “The Twits.”

Next, on 12 June, pioneering pop producer A.G. Cook joined writer and editor Francesca Gavin for a conversation spanning hyperpop, Britpop, and his recent work on Charli XCX’s Grammy-winning album BRAT. Gavin — whose career bridges art, music and media — brought an insightful perspective to Cook’s genre-bending sonic world.

On 17 June, the spotlight turned to John Glacier, the enigmatic East London artist known for her poetic, genre-fluid style. In conversation with Femi Adeyemi, founder of NTS Radio, Glacier delved into the making of her 2024 debut album “Like A Ribbon,” a project that cements her as one of the most compelling new voices in UK music.

Closing out the month on 19 June, singer-songwriter Nilüfer Yanya sat down with creative strategist Cynthia Igbokwe to discuss her third studio album “My Method Actor,” as well as her work with Artists In Transit — a platform for creative outreach in times of crisis.
