Ella Purnell is a force to be reckoned with – taking on a leading role in one of this year’s most highly awaited films, out today. Her next role is as Emma Bloom, in Tim Burton’s interpretation of best-selling novel Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, alongside a host of A-list co-stars, including Samuel L. Jackson, Eva Green, Dame Judi Dench and Terence Stamp. According to Purnell it’s “mystical, peculiar, fantastical, scary. Not scary… freaky. No creepy! And colourful. It’s also sweet and funny.”
“Although Emma might look normal on the outside, she is fighting her own demons from within, which if you think about, we all have to do,” Purnell explains. “Emma is actually very sweet, but like most girls she is very erce: when you push her, that’s it! I wanted to show that she has a loving personality, and a great strength in controlling her peculiarity.”
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is in cinemas on the 29th of September.
