review | lizzo live in london

There are not many artists who can pull off a two-hour show at London’s O2 arena and still keep fans gasping for more but pop superstar Lizzo is one of the few who can. The Houston powerhouse closed the UK leg of The Special Tour with multiple draw-dropping outfit changes, an appearance from her signature Sasha Flute and a stage full of twerking backup dancers.

“We went from getting fucked up in the Trave Lodge to selling out the O2 twice!” Lizzo screamed wearing a glittery feather robe while she gracefully danced to song Naked. Her vocal energy mirrored how everyone felt in that arena. Fan faces were illuminated by strobe lights and bodies waved along to Soulmate, The Sign and TempoLizzo is the queen of promoting self-love but also used tracks like Special to show love to her partner and Birthday Girl  to celebrate fan birthdays in the room. Lizzo even broke into tears only to receive roaring claps and cries.

The Grammy-winner dialled up the energy when performing hit Truth Hurts and Good as HellLizzo’s ability to make every single person in the crowd feel seen and heard was remarkable. The artist spent over twenty minutes making conversation and every eye in the audience lit up as though she spoke directly to them. Lizzo has undeniably mastered the art of connection and putting on a show.
