hella world | prada mode los angeles

On 16 and 17 February, Prada presented something truly incredible — the seventh iteration of Prada Mode. This event featured, amongst other things, a stunning immersive installation by the artist Martine Syms to coincide with Frieze Los Angeles.

Making its home in Genghis Cohen, an iconic restaurant and music venue on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles, California, Prada Mode. The event focussed on contemporary culture, blending a one-of-a-kind art experience with food, music, dining and more.

For the event, Martine Syms contributed an interactive installation titled “HelLA World.” The installation was a text and video piece that explored live performance, narrative exposition and casual conversations with strangers. The installation centred on a ticker-tape monitor that encouraged guests to share thoughts, messages, gossip and status updates, complemented by additional monitors around the venue that showed images and video.

Over the course of its two days, Prada Mode Los Angeles allowed members access to the restaurant at any time to view the site-specific installation, as well as attend talks, performances and culinary presentations.
