Seeing the world through artist’s eyes juld become a reality when Chrome Hearts’ Chomper eyewear collection launches this September. The limited-edition eyewear collection is made in collaboration with the LA-based artist Matt DiGiacomo and includes six unique styles carrying DiGiacomo’s well-known Chomper motif. Combining techniques and mediums through his multimedia practice, Matt DiGiacomo has been involved with Chrome Hearts for several collections, on pieces that sit within the Pete Punk Offspring (PPO) collection. The collection includes his signature designs applied to leather jackets, sneakers, t-shirts and wallets, bringing an unparalleled Rocker edge to the pieces through a customisation aesthetic.
For the Chomper eyewear pieces, Chrome Hearts surpasses the boundaries of conventional eyewear design, printing straight on to the lenses, with titanium lip frames in silver or gold. In keeping with the excellence of workmanship of the house, the Carl Zeiss lenses are manufactured with a 5-layer anti-reflective coating. With an offering of six colour schemes, the collection includes spectacles produced with a custom Chrome Hearts 24k gold mirror. Working on the wit-driven, imaginative designs, the artist describes his approach as an attempt to find beauty in accessible objects: “There’s never been a compromise between my art and what I bring to the line I create with Chrome Hearts so I love to push the boundaries of what people might expect from either,” DiGiacomo explains. As an ongoing conversation between art and fashion, DiGiacomo’s work fuses his quirky take on social realities with the illustrated parameters of his own world.
Taking into consideration only materials of the finest quality, the collection falls in line with the Rock & Roll appeal that is synonymous with Chrome Hearts. The production of frames is limited to under 500 pairs. Keep a close eye on the arrival of these beauties this September.
The Chomper Eyewear Collection will be available in Chrome Hearts stores and selected stores worldwide from September 2017.
