pre-fall 2015 beauty favourites

We’re kicking off the New Year with some of the season’s best transitional beauty looks from our favorite Pre-Fall collections. From sleek and chic, to minimal and mused, most looks were low key and easy, a perfect way to begin a busy month without the stress of a high maintenance beauty routine.

Strong Centre Parting

The statement centre parting was seen in almost every collection; whether it be messy, or slick and severe, this was the super star in creating the foundation to a progressive mid-winter look. California ’60s surf at The Row was a favourite, as well as Carven’s slick low pony tail. Christopher Kane added a little texture to his remix collection creating something sexy, classic and easy. Marchesa channeled the ultimate luxe look- sleek, long and straight delivering ultimate elegance.

Serious Texture

Taking a major step back from the sculpted curls that was seen almost everywhere last year, texture became relaxed and sexy, a much needed step back from high maintenance hair that seemed to plague the 2014 beauty routine. Chloé illustrated the ultimate “cool girl” with hair that seemed to move as though there was always the perfect light wind to animate each strand, bringing the whole look to life. Alber Elbaz took a step back from his usual evening look for something more daytime appropriate at Lanvin.

Beautiful Bare Skin

Heavy makeup can be put away, at least for just a moment. Attention to skin care is on the front lines, focusing on luminous texture and balanced skin tone. Natural radiance made freckles pop and dreamy eyes shine at Rochas; Alessandro Dell’Acqua was inspired by “something between Hollywood and something childish,” balancing the collection with simple beauty giving it a polished, girlish refinement. Both Proenza Schouler and Thakoon illustrated understated elegance, pulling the hair off the face to reveal perfect, satin skin. Adding a mid-winter skin healing cream is a great way to prepare your fresh face for spring, giving it the glow we all dream of.

Dangerously Deep Parts

Adding more drama to your midwinter look, the deviously deep side part is great for casual, messy texture or a polished finish. Missoni and Donna Karan were all luxury and shine, a high end woman with a strong look. A favourite was from Gucci, sophisticated, but an oh-so-sexy interpretation of an easy, low pony tail, personifying a much loved look from a ’70s romance. This simple detail has the potential to transform the whole ambiance of a total look, an effortless update to a classic style.

Berry Lip

Adding an accent lip is a chic, easy way to make clean beauty pop in under a minute. With a revival in the French minimalist makeup regimen, simply throwing on a quick shade is the best way to add glamour on the go. Oscar De La Renta’s fuchsia lip was powerful and pretty, evoking an image of grandeur, worthy of seducing both men and women alike. This approach to style perfectly captures a new attitude in a new year, the silent sophistication of the contemporary woman.
