miu miu | helen marten’s 30 blizzards. premieres at art basel paris

For its second year as Official Partner of Art Basel Paris’ Public Program, Miu Miu returns with 30 Blizzards., a new, genre-blurring commission by Turner Prize-winning artist Helen Marten. Staged at the Palais d’Iéna from 22–26 October 2025, the project marks Marten’s first foray into performance, unfolding as a live sequence that merges sculpture, video, libretto, and sound.

Known for her layered, materially rich works that interrogate systems of language, identity, and meaning, Marten brings her distinctive visual vocabulary to the stage. Jonathan Anderson himself has been captivated by the British artist, with one of her wall piece making into his curious art collection.

Born in Macclesfield in 1985, Marten studied at Central Saint Martins and Oxford before developing a practice that slips between sculpture, video, writing and installation. In 2016, she picked up both the Turner Prize and the first-ever Hepworth Prize for Sculpture. She’s also a writer, with a novel already out and two more books on the way.

Created with opera director Fabio Cherstich and electronic composer Beatrice Dillon, 30 Blizzards. constructs a poetic landscape in flux, which combines installation, choreography, and literary puzzle into one element. Text, movement, and image collide, forming a meditation on human transformation within an increasingly mediated world.

Marten, whose work is held in major institutions including Tate, MoMA, and the Stedelijk, has long explored how we process and re-translate the everyday. This latest project expands that inquiry into live space, animated by rhythm, repetition, and the tension between structure and collapse.

The performance takes place within Art Basel Paris’ Public Program, a curated series of free installations, exhibitions, and site-specific works staged across the city. Now in its third edition, the Paris fair has fast become a key platform for global contemporary art, hosted each autumn at the Grand Palais Éphémère and activating cultural landmarks throughout the capital.

With 30 Blizzards., Miu Miu continues its ongoing engagement with contemporary women’s voices and histories, celebrating experimental forms through multilayered explorations across fashion and culture.
